Chapter 565
Sebastian never expected her to say something like that. He was stunned, staring at her in disbelief, completely at a loss.
Thalia… Sebastian called out softly, his voice trembling.
He tried to speak, but when his eyes met her icy gaze, his words got stuck in his throat. No matter how hard he tried, nothing came out.
The breeze brushed past, and Sebastian felt a coldness seep into his bones.
Thalia looked at him with a calm expression, and as her words faded, she turned on her heel and walked away.
“Thalia,” Sebastian called out, his voice trembling.
“Yeah, I messed up before, I didn’t see it coming, but I was set up too. You can’t just judge me for that…”
Sebastian stepped closer, his voice rough, eyes clouded with hurt and disappointment.
It stung, being dismissed by her like that.
Thalia stopped and turned to face him. “Sebastian, maybe we’re just not right as friends.”
“But I always thought things felt easy and happy when we were together,” Sebastian said, looking at her intently. “Or is this about Darion? Did he tell you to stop talking to me?”
“This has nothing to do with him,” Thalia said, holding his gaze. “I’ve finally found some peace in my life, and I don’t want to get dragged back into all that mess.”
Sebastian was wrapped in sadness. “Thalia, is there really no hope for me?”
Thalia looked at him, completely at a loss for words.
He always made her feel like she was the heartbreaker here.
But honestly, they were just friends, nothing more.
Thalia’s gaze was conflicted as she pressed her lips together and looked at him. “Sebastian, thanks for caring about me in the past. I have something to do, so I need to go.”
She didn’t linger.
Right now, she couldn’t afford any more surprises. She needed to get stronger, to prepare herself for the day she’d finally face Vera.
She was determined to get her own back, to take revenge for everything she’d been through.
Her goals were clear: she had to uncover the truth about her past. Once everything was settled, she’d divorce Darion and start a new life.
She was actually looking forward to that future.
As long as nothing unexpected got in her way.
Sebastian watched her walk away, his hands clenched tightly at his sides.

She’d turned him down without a second thought.
So she really chose Darion in the end, huh?’ Sebastian thought, a bitter ache spreading through his chest.

Thalia stepped out of the apartment complex and spotted Darion by his car, tall and composed, a cigarette dangling between his fingers as wisps of smoke curled into the air.
He looked so alone standing there, almost heartbreakingly solitary.
Thalia hesitated for a second, then made her way toward him.
Darion looked up, his striking gaze wavering as he asked in a low voice, “What did he say to you?”
Thalia shook her head. “Nothing.”
Without another word, she opened the car door and slipped inside.
Thalia reached for the seatbelt, but before she could fasten it, Darion suddenly leaned in, taking the belt from her hands and buckling it himself.
Once he finished, he didn’t move away. He stayed right there, staring at her from just inches away.
Thalia’s long lashes quivered. This distance was making her heart race. It was way too close.
What are you trying to do?” Thalia asked, her voice tense.
She leaned back slightly, body rigid, keeping her distance from him.
3ut Darion stared at her without blinking, his voice low and demanding. “Why didn’t you tell me? Is there something going on between you two?”
Thalia raised an eyebrow. “That really isn’t your concern, is it? We’re in the middle of a divorce.”
