Sandra’s eyes flew wide. “You… you…” She kept repeating ‘you’ over and over, unable to say anything else.

Her son and daughter-in-law were both as stubborn as mules. After Emely’s accident, they’d taken off to work with Doctors Without Borders.

She’d fought them tooth and nail, but they didn’t care and took off without a second thought.

And now, they’re back, trying to put a stop to the divorce.

Sandra’s vision blurred with rage. She gripped the armrest of the sofa, knuckles white. “You’re all a bunch of bastards.”

In the study, Richard’s gaze was frosty. “You got a vasectomy?”

Darion slumped into the chair, rubbing his temples like he had a headache. “I saw how much pain Miya went through when she had Keith, and I couldn’t bear to let Thalia go through that.”

“Do you even hear yourself?” Richard exploded, barely containing his rage. “Have you ever asked Thalia if she wants a child of her own?”

Darion’s hand fell. He looked down. “She once said she wanted us to have our time together.”

“So you just assumed she didn’t want kids?” Richard was practically shaking with anger. “Not wanting and not being able to have them are two totally different things.

“You could’ve used protection. Why go straight for a vasectomy? Tell me the truth, are you interested in Miya?”

Darion’s head snapped up. “Dad, she’s my sister-in-law.”

Richard furrowed his brows, staring hard at Darion. “Since you know she’s your sister-in-law, you’d better draw a clear line and stay out of it.”

“And what about Keith?” Darion let out a bitter, almost mocking laugh. “You and Mom disappeared without a word. Miya found out she was pregnant. She was carrying Emely’s child, his only kid.

“I told you about this, and what did you say? “The Blackburn family will take care of her! But now, it’s just Grandma and me at home. Who’s going to look after her?”

He jumped to his feet, his emotions surging. “We can’t snatch Keith away from her. He’s already lost his dad. He can’t lose his mom, too.”

Richard’s face was stormy, but as he listened to Darion’s accusations, he stayed silent for a long moment, unable to find the words to respond.

Darion said, “I screwed up with the vasectomy. I’ll get it fixed. If Thalia wants a kid, I’ll make it happen for her.

“Well, you’d better make it up to her first,” Richard said coldly. “Thalia’s a good girl. Don’t mess this up for her.”

Helen gently held Thalia’s hand, her eyes flashing with pain and sympathy. “Thalia, do you have to go through with the

divorce?

Thalia lowered her gaze, her eyes flickering with emotion. She softly pulled her hand away and said, “Mom, there’s no going back for Darion and me.”

Helen took in Thalia’s dejected expression and sighed in resignation, “That kid isn’t lucky enough to have you.”

Thalia looked up at her. “Mom, are you okay with this?”

“I am.” Helen nodded. “But you and Darion can’t get divorced until I’ve found him a new wife.”
