Chapter 607
But Darion was never satisfied with just a simple kiss. That was nowhere near enough for him.
He moved fast. pulling her in and pressing his lips to hers in a deep, hungry kiss.
Thalia was momentarily stunned.
Her hands were already on his shoulders, ready to push him away, but when she felt his shaky breath, her fingers tightened, and she let the thought go.
‘Forget it, she thought.
‘If a kiss can keep him from overthinking, it’s not a big deal.
The kiss was rushed and burning, like Darion just couldn’t get enough. No matter how many times he kissed her, it was never enough.
But time was short, and he had to pull back.
He released her, his thumb gently wiping the wetness from the corner of her lips. His voice was rough as he said, “I’ll be fine. Don’t worry.”
Even though Thalia hadn’t said a single word. Darion could feel her concern.
He was really caught up in this, because it was the only way he could sense if he still had a place in her heart.
As long as there was even the tiniest bit of room for him, that was enough.
The helicopter landed at the edge of the jungle, not far from a small town with a clinic.
Thalia insisted on taking him to the clinic, and Darion didn’t argue.
Luckily, they still had a little time.
At the clinic, the doctor took Darion’s temperature and asked, “Are you injured? Take off your shirt so I can check.”
Thalia glanced at him right away, her pretty brows furrowing in concern.
Darion coughed twice and replied, “I’m not hurt, just caught a chill and now I’ve got a fever.”
But the doctor insisted, “Take off your shirt.”
Darion was speechless.
‘Are doctors in these small towns always this tough?’ he wondered.
Seeing Darion still standing there, the doctor turned to Thalia and said, “Go ahead and take his shirt off for him. He’s taking forever”
Thalia was left speechless.
Darion’s pale lips curled into a faint smile at the doctor’s words. Suddenly, he felt pretty damn good!

Chapter 607
Seeing she didn’t protest, he felt even better.
She strode over and stripped his shirt off without hesitation.
“Wait, didn’t you say you had a bulletproof vest on?” Thalia frowned, seeing he was only wearing a shirt underneath.
As she unbuttoned his shirt, she caught sight of the white bandages wrapped tightly around his chest.
‘So he really was hurt!’ Thalia thought, feeling a jolt of worry.
Realizing he couldn’t hide it anymore, Darion loosened his grip, stretched out on the clinic bed, and shut his eyes. “Alright, just fix me up,” he said.
Thalia felt like someone was choking her. She could hardly catch her breath.
‘He’s hurt!’ she thought, her heart pounding.
‘He’d been hurt since last night!
‘But he lied to me!’
Just remembering what she’d said to him last night made her mind buzz.
She stepped back, clearing the way for the doctor, her eyes fixed on Darion’s pale face, her hands clenched tightly into fists at her sides.
The clinic reeked of disinfectant as the doctor redressed Darion’s wound.
But when he looked at the edges of the injury, the doctor frowned.
“This is a knife wound, not that deep. Normally, after stitching and disinfecting, it shouldn’t be getting worse. So why is it? Who did this to you? Did you call the police? Did you get the guy? The weapon didn’t have anything weird on it, did it?”
The doctor rattled off questions so fast that everyone in the room was left completely dumbfounded.
Thalia asked, her voice shaking, “What do you mean by that?”
The doctor said, “Could be poison, but I’m not sure. You’d better get him to a real hospital before things get worse. If you wait too long, he might not make it.”
