Chapter 608
Thalia’s face drained of color as soon as she heard the doctor’s words. She stared at Darion in disbelief her lips quivering. but she was speechless for a long moment.
“Don’t be scared. He’s just messing with you, I’m not poisoned. It’s just a bit inflamed because I didn’t get it treated in time Darton said, noticing her expression. He felt both happy and a little sad inside, so he flashed her a reassuring smile, trying to comfort her
The doctor shot him an uncertain look, then said, “You should go to a proper hospital. I can’t deal with this here
Darion replied. “Just give me an anti-inflammatory injection.”
The doctor frowned. “I told you, I’m not equipped to handle this. You…”
But before he could finish, he was met with Darion’s icy, indifferent stare.
Even though Darion looked sickly and pale, there was a cold, almost regal aura about him. Just that one frosty glance made an invisible pressure fill the room, and the doctor felt as if his soul trembled.
This man is not someone I can afford to cross!’ the doctor thought to himself.
He instinctively wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and hesitated before saying, “I can give you the shot, but… if anything happens, you can’t blame me. You insisted, and I warned you.”
If something happens to me, it’s none of your business,” Darion said coldly.
The anti-inflammatory injection would temporarily suppress his symptoms. He couldn’t afford to collapse now. If something happened to him, what would Thalia do?
The doctor started preparing the medicine, handling everything with extreme caution.
Thalia stood silently nearby, not saying a word until Darion got his shot. “I… I need to use the restroom.”
Darion said, “Let Dax go with you.”
After a moment, he added, “Just make sure he doesn’t get too close.”
Okay.’ Thalia replied softly.
She turned and left the exam room. The clinic was small. Just a short walk around the corner and the restroom was in sight
But instead of heading in, she walked out of the clinic, made her way to the roadside, and stood beneath a tree
Life in the town was peaceful. Some people gathered in twos and threes, chatting, while others were busy walking around
Thalia felt a coldness spreading through her body.
She shot Dax a text, asking him to come meet her outside.
In less than a minute, Dax showed up in front of her. The rugged guy looked extra careful, glancing at her as he asked. “Thalia, is there something you need?”
Thalia blinked, her long lashes fluttering as she looked up at him. “When exactly did he get hurt?” she asked softly
“Uh…” Dax scratched the back of his head, looking awkward and struggling for words. He glanced at Thalia, unsure how to

He’d promised Darion to keep it under wraps. I can’t betray Darion’s trust, Dax thought, feeling torn
