Chapter 610
Thalia calmly withdrew her hand and said, “You need to rest now. Time’s short. Rest up and recharge. We’ll need you soon
‘Yeah, Darion said.
Hearing her words, Darion felt relieved.
He closed his eyes, making the most of the time to rest.
The IV drip would take some time, and they could only hope that Vera’s men wouldn’t catch up while they waited.
The small town was unusually peaceful.
Thalia went out to grab some dinner, just picked at her food, then sat down on a chair under a big tree, watching as the ungle was slowly swallowed by the night.
The small black pistol rested against her back, its cold, hard metal a constant reminder of danger.
Dax came over and stood beside her, giving her a conflicted look. “Thalia, are you sure about this?”
Thalia turned to look at him. “I’m only asking you for this one thing. Is that too much?”
Dax looked even more conflicted. “I can, but…”
“Then that’s it. No buts,” Thalia cut him off.
Thalia lowered her gaze, a subtle smile curling on her lips.
She stood up, let out a heavy sigh, and said, “Make sure they don’t find me. After that, you should get out of here too.”
After speaking, she glanced toward the clinic, her eyes shimmering for just a few seconds before she turned and headed into he jungle.
Dax instinctively started to follow her, but remembering what Thalia had said, he halted.
He noticed Darion’s bodyguards beginning to move, all of them shadowing Thalia as she walked away.
He closed his eyes briefly, then took out his phone and dialed one of them.
‘No need to follow her anymore. I’ll handle it myself,” Dax said.
The bodyguard hesitated, looking confused. “But Mr. Blackburn told us to stick with his wife no matter what.”
“This is part of his orders too. It’s all his plan. He wants to draw the enemy out,” Dax lied smoothly.
The bodyguard knew Dax was tight with Darion, so he didn’t doubt it. “Alright, understood.”
After ending the call. Dax told the bodyguards to stop shadowing Thalia. Then, he himself followed after her, his footsteps echoing hers into the night.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, darkness crept over the small town, and their silhouettes vanished into the shadows

As soon as the IV drip finished, Darion’s eyes snapped open. He shot up in bed, a sharp, constricting pam squeezing his
chest
The doctor jumped back, startled. “Oh my god, what are you doing?”
Darion’s face darkened. “Where’s my wife?”
The doctor blinked, totally confused. “Hey, she’s your wife, not mine. How am I supposed to know?”
Darion’s expression turned even nastier. He grabbed the doctor by the collar, his tone cold and dangerous. “She was here when I fell asleep, but now she’s gone. Where the hell did she go?”
The intimidating vibe coming off Darion made the doctor’s face turn ghostly pale. “S-she left about half an hour ago. She said she was hungry and went out to get something to eat.”
Darion let go of him, rushed out of bed, and ran outside.
‘Something’s not right… Darion thought, unease creeping into his heart.
