Chapter 673 Messed Up
God knows how much Jason was suffering, pacing back and forth outside the
hospital room, torn between going in or staying out.
Especially when he heard Darion calling out to Thalia in that ridiculously clingy, syrupy voice, Jason felt his skin crawl.
‘How can someone be so two-faced?
‘How can he switch gears so fast?’ he wondered, still in disbelief.
‘He’s all gentle and loving with Thalia, but when it comes to me, his bro, he’s just cold and heartless!
‘I’m so done with this, Jason thought, just exhausted.
Now that he’d delivered the message, Jason didn’t stick around any longer. He turned on his heel and made a quick exit.
The hospital room was dead silent.
After a while, Darion let out a heavy sigh and said, “Thalia, my dignity is gone.”
Thalia gave him a blank look and typed, “What are you talking about?”
“My reputation’s shot,” Darion said gloomily. “Why didn’t you warn me someone was coming?”
Thalia kept typing, “I thought you were enjoying yourself, so I didn’t have the heart to interrupt.”
‘You’ve got to make it up to me,” Darion said, pulling the guilt card.
‘My image is totally wrecked, and it’s all your fault,” he added, acting all dramatic. Thalia just stared, lost for words.
She just put her phone down and ignored him.
“Thalia,” Darion called softly.
“Thalia, talk to me,” he coaxed.
“Thalia, chat with me,” he pouted.
“Thalia… Thalia…” he kept calling, his voice growing more clingy and pitiful.
Thalia felt like her ears were going numb from Darion’s endless calls. Fed up, she quickly texted him, “I’m exhausted. I’m going to rest. Don’t bother me, no matter what.”” I can’t take this anymore, she thought, just wanting some peace.
Then she made a quick exit from the hospital room.
Darion listened as the sound of Thalia faded away, his head slightly lowered, his face completely blank. No one had a clue what he was thinking.
Natasha had just finished reviewing Darion’s test results and already had a treatment plan in mind. She was discussing it with the other doctors when her phone buzzed. She pulled it out and saw it was an email.
Helen: [Natasha, have you seen my son Darion? How is he doing? Is his injury serious?] Helen: [If you have a moment, could you give me a call? Waiting for your reply.] Helen Blackburn had always looked out for Natasha, and Natasha was truly grateful for her kindness. Without a second thought, she called her right away.
“Hello, Helen, it’s me, Natasha,” Natasha said sweetly as soon as the call connected. Helen’s voice was gentle. “Natasha, it’s been so long since we last talked. How have you been?”
Natasha replied, “I’m doing well! I heard you came back home for a while. What made you decide to leave again?”
Helen chuckled. “I just feel more at home with the rescue team. That’s the kind of life that feels meaningful and valuable to me.”
After a brief pause, Helen asked, “Natasha, have you seen Darion lately?”
“Yes, I have,” Natasha nodded. “He’s in pretty bad shape. He can’t see at all right now. But please don’t worry, Helen, I promise I’ll do everything I can to help him get better.” “What?!” Helen’s voice jumped, clearly shaken.
