Chapter 704 The Wind Is Changing
Helen’s tone grew serious. “Don’t say that. Your eyes will recover.”
“Mom,” Darion said, his voice even colder.
“I don’t want to hear you talk about this anymore. If you insist on bringing it up, maybe you should just return to the rescue team. They need you more than I do.”
Helen pressed her lips together, her gaze fixed on Darion. Even though he couldn’t see, his presence was still commanding.
Once he made up his mind, he never changed it.
She lowered her eyes a bit and let go of her tightly clenched hands. She knew she’d been too impatient.
Thalia had told her that once Darion’s eyes healed, she’d walk away, no matter if he
wanted the divorce or not.
Whatever trouble came her way, she’d face it by herself. She wasn’t going to pull Darion into it anymore.
“I was just joking around, don’t take it seriously,” Helen said with a quick smile. ” Besides, this kind of thing has to be mutual. Even if you say yes, Natasha might not be
on board.”
Darion didn’t say anything else. He turned toward Thalia and said, “Thalia, I want some potato.”
“Let me get it for you,” Helen said, immediately reaching out with her fork to serve him some food.
But Darion dodged her fork, his face still turned toward Thalia.
His sharp senses told him exactly who was trying to feed him.
Helen’s fork just hung awkwardly in the air.
Thalia kept her gaze lowered, doing her best to stay unnoticed. When she saw what was happening, she blinked, feeling a bit awkward, then gently took Helen’s hand and helped her move it toward Darion’s bowl.
But Darion dodged again, his voice sounded a bit hurt. “Thalia?”
Helen tried to keep her voice steady. “It really is her feeding you.”
“The wind’s changing,” Darion muttered.
He said in a low voice, “Are you all picking on me just because I can’t see?”
As soon as he said that, Helen quickly withdrew her hand and gave Thalia a look, signaling her to serve him instead.
Chapter 04 The Wind Is Changing
That line hit everyone like a stab right in the heart. It really stung.
Thalia picked up some food for him, and this time, Darion didn’t dodge. He gave a small smile and said, “Thanks.”
Thalia was left speechless.
She felt kind of numb inside.
The whole dinner was so tense, you could cut the air with a knife.
Natasha Riley came back rubbing her belly, tugging at Thalia excitedly. “Thalia, that spicy lobster place I tried was really good! How about I take you there tomorrow?” Darion’s voice drifted over quietly. “You said it yourself, we need to stay away from spicy food right now.”
Natasha blinked. “Ah… that’s a shame. Maybe next time, when we’re back, we can go together?”
“Yeah.”
Thalia nodded.
Natasha went to wash her hands, and when she came back, she gave them both acupuncture. Thalia and Darion lay side by side on their hospital beds.
Natasha started with Thalia first. Once the needles were in place, Thalia had to stay perfectly still.
When Natasha started on Darion, he suddenly scooted over to the edge of the bed. Natasha looked at him, puzzled. “What are you doing?”
Darion replied, “I’m more comfortable this way.”
