Chapter 741 Can’t Live Without Her
“Sorry, I just wanted some water,” Darion said quietly, his head lowered as he heard someone approaching.
Darion heard footsteps coming closer, his head drooping as he spoke.
Thalia felt a tightness in her chest. She walked over, pulled him away, and asked the staff to tidy up.
They sat on the other side and began to eat.
Thalia typed on her phone, “Just tell someone if you need anything done.”
Darion stayed silent for a long time before finally saying, “I just wanted to see if I’ve really become worthless.”
Then he let out a low laugh. “Guess I really am.”
The atmosphere in the dining room felt even more oppressive, like the air before a storm, heavy and uncomfortable.
With her phone in hand, Thalia watched Darion looking so lost and defeated, and for a while, she just stood there, not knowing what to say.
Darion turned his head slightly to face her and said, “Let’s eat. I’m hungry.”
Thalia put down her phone, picked up her fork, and helped serve him some food.
Outside the dining room, Natasha had seen everything that just happened.
She curled her lip in disdain, walked back to Diana, and whispered, “He really is a manipulator, always playing the victim just to get Thalia to feel sorry for him.” Diana raised an eyebrow in surprise. “You really do have it out for him.”
Natasha looked extra serious. “Thalia’s suffered so much because of him. Honestly, every time I remember what she’s been through, I can’t even pretend to be friendly to that guy.”
Diana sighed and shook her head. “Just talk about him behind his back, okay? Don’t say anything in front of him. He’s still signing your checks.”
Natasha nodded. “Yeah, I get it. I’d never say no to money.”
During the acupuncture session that night, Natasha adjusted the treatment plan, and Darion felt a slight sting.
He said in a low voice, “I’m starting to think you’re trying to assassinate me.”
Natasha’s mouth twitched. “If I really wanted you dead, it wouldn’t be an assassination. This would be straight-up murder, right in front of you.”
Darion immediately called out, “Thalia, she’s trying to kill me!”
Chapter 41 Can’t Live Without Her
Natasha was getting fed up. “Seriously, you keep going on about Thalia all day. Anyone listening would think you can’t live without her.”
Darion just shrugged. “Yeah, that’s exactly how it is.”
Natasha was speechless.
Why did I even say anything?
Seriously, what can I do with a shameless scumbag like him?’ she wondered.
Thalia typed, “Why is he hurting?”
Natasha patiently explained, “He used to have nerve pain, so I dug through some ancient medical books and switched up the acupuncture technique. Hopefully, this new method will help and he won’t feel pain anymore.”
Thalia replied softly.
After the acupuncture session, Natasha asked, “Does it still hurt?”
Darion took a moment to feel it out, then said, “It only stops hurting when Thalia’s here
with me.”
Natasha just stared, lost for words.
I can’t even!’ she thought.
