Chapter 780 Wendy

“Miss Adkins? Miss Adkins!”

The servants and bodyguards were all searching for Wendy Adkins, but the white smoke from the fire extinguishers spread throughout the room, creating a stark contrast with the dark smoke from the flames.

The visibility was so poor that they couldn’t spot Wendy Adkins anywhere.

Meanwhile, Wendy, who had been hiding in the corner, hugged the wall and darted toward the door. She didn’t dare breathe until she was outside, then took a deep

breath.

She nearly choked to death in there!

Wendy wiped her face, her hair now even more disheveled, then dashed down the

stairs.

Right now, the servants were scrambling to put out the fire and find her, chaos everywhere, making it the perfect moment for Wendy to slip away without anyone noticing!

Wendy didn’t hesitate for a second before running straight toward the edge of the garden. She had to figure out what was hidden in that little grove. Why they wouldn’t let her get close, and what they were so desperate to keep her from discovering!

“Hey! The place is on fire, so why aren’t you helping with it?”

At that moment, someone walked by her, shouting loudly.

Without seeing her face clearly, the person just assumed she was one of the castle’s

servants.

Wendy called out in a sharp voice, “Miss Adkins is missing! I’m out here looking for her!” The person was startled and quickly said, “Then I’ll help you look.”

‘Oh crap, Wendy thought. She couldn’t let him tag along. He’d totally blow her cover! “You go that way!” Wendy pointed in the opposite direction. “Let’s split up and search.” “Yeah, makes sense,” the person replied, and without another word, turned and ran off. Wendy instantly felt relieved, then wasted no time and hurried straight into the garden.

The lights here were dim, and with everyone tied up inside the castle dealing with the fire and searching for her, this place was totally deserted.

Faint echoes of chaos from the castle reached her ears, but Wendy had already darted into the grove.

Last time, she hadn’t managed to find anything strange in the grove, but this time, she

was going to be extra thorough.

She glanced at the gazebo, then slipped around to the back. There, she spotted a narrow path. Following it deeper into the woods, she soon found a door hidden among the trees, a basement door.

‘I knew it! There really is something here,’ Wendy thought, feeling a rush of excitement.

Wendy’s eyes went wide, her heart racing with anxiety. She hurried to the door and pushed it open.

There was a dark staircase leading down.

Wendy crept inside, nervously swallowing hard.

After about two minutes, she reached another door. This one had a password lock.

Wendy stared blankly at the lock, totally dumbfounded. ‘Seriously, how am I supposed to get in?’ she thought.

She had no clue what the password was!

Wendy grabbed the railing, squinting hard to see inside. After thinking for a second, she suddenly yelled, “Is anyone in there?”

She called out in several languages, her voice bouncing off the walls of the long hallway, but nobody answered.

‘Is there really nobody here?

‘Did I mess up? Was I wrong about all this?
