I Divorced You Now You Beg (Thalia and Darion) novel Chapter 782

Chapter 781 Beyond Saving

Just then, a few bodyguards came rushing down. When they spotted Wendy, they hurried over and said, “Miss Adkins, what are you doing here? This isn’t somewhere you can just wander into. If Mr. Clark finds out, he’ll be pissed.”

Wendy spun around to face them, her expression desperate. “Who’s locked up in there? I heard someone calling my name. Who is it? Open the door, I need to go in.”

The bodyguards looked uneasy, but didn’t dare touch her. They could only try to talk her down. “Miss Adkins, you must’ve misheard. Everyone in there is someone who disrespected Mr. Clark. Nobody here knows you.”

“No, I didn’t mishear. I know someone was calling me,” Wendy insisted, panic rising in her chest. Her voice shook. ‘Why am I so anxious?” “Open the door, I have to go in!”

“I’m really sorry, but that’s just not possible…” one of the bodyguards replied, sounding helpless.

The bodyguards were at their wits’ end.

They exchanged glances, and then one of them suddenly chopped Wendy on the back of her neck. Her body went limp and she collapsed.

They didn’t dare touch her themselves, so they had a maid come over and haul Wendy

out.

The night sky was covered in thick clouds, and deep in the woods, the basement was like a giant beast’s mouth, swallowing all the darkness and madness inside.

Inside one of the rooms, a man painfully crawled to the door, his voice growing louder as he called out, “Wendy…”

That shout took everything he had left. His eyes were bloodshot as he tried to see the doorway, but all he could hear was the sound of footsteps getting farther and farther

away.

He heard it. Those people called her “Miss Adkins.” “His Wendy really was here!’ Jason thought, his heart racing.

Jason’s hands gripped the railing so tightly his knuckles turned white. The pain all over his body left him completely drained, just crawling that short distance had already left him utterly exhausted.

Regret and self-blame flooded Jason’s mind. ‘In my current state, how could I possibly save her?’ he thought, despair washing over him.

‘I was way too reckless, Jason berated himself.

Chapter 781 Beyond Saving

The fire had been put out, but the room was burnt beyond recognition. There was no way Wendy could sleep there. So the maid took her to a different room.

When Wendy woke up again, it was already the next morning. She bolted for the door, not even bothering to put on her shoes.

But someone had locked the bedroom door.

“Open the door! Let me out!” Wendy yelled as she banged on the door.

Her face was pale, her eyes bloodshot. ‘I heard it!’ she thought, her heart pounding.

The voice was barely a whisper, but she knew she’d heard it.

On this island, nobody would ever call her “Wendy” in Aristonese. ‘Someone I know must be here to rescue me,’ Wendy thought, a spark of hope igniting in her chest.

After all this time, she was finally about to see someone she actually knew.

“Let me out!” Wendy shouted, pounding on the door.

But there was still no response from outside.

Her palms were red and numb from all the pounding, and finally, she just slumped down on the carpet. The thrill and hope in her eyes faded, replaced by creeping fear and confusion.
