Now that he’d settled things with Zara, there was still one person left to deal with–Clara.
She’d dared to set him up, and that wasn’t something he planned to forgive.
He slid into the back seat of his car and leaned against the window, fingers tapping impatient. on his phone. For a while, he aimlessly scrolled through the apps he usually opened to kill time–news, messages, a few games.
Then something caught his eye. His top gaming friend had just come online–and had even sent him several rare skins that weren’t even on sale.
Kenny blinked. That was easily worth over a hundred grand.
For the first time that morning, the ice in his expression cracked. His lips twitched upward as he typed.
Shadowling asked, “Since when did the penny–pincher get so generous?”
Granny Guns replied, “Don’t ask questions. Just spend it. Think of it as free loot from heaven.”
Kenny smirked, fingers flying over the keyboard to reply–but before he could hit send, another message popped up. Granny Guns replied, “I’m sleepy. Going to bed first.”
Shadowling asked, “Sleeping again? Alright, rest up. Want to team tonight?”
“Not playing lately. Got some stuff to handle.”
“Stuff? Complicated? You never take days off gaming. What if Granny Guns gets rusty?”
“Already rusty. One tap and you’re done. I can’t keep my eyes open anymore.”
“Then go crash. Good night–no, wait, good morning.”
No reply came. The avatar dimmed to gray a few seconds later.
It seemed she was truly exhausted.
Kenny stared at the screen for a moment then evhaled a small lanh thuaugh hin

After ending the video call, Oriana still felt a lingering sense of confusion.
Micah tilted his head slightly, his deep voice breaking the silence. “What’s wrong?”
Startled, Oriana blinked and shook her head quickly. “It’s nothing. I just… feel like Zara’s acting a little strange today.”
Micah raised a thick brow. “What makes you say that?”
Oriana frowned. “I just feel like Zara was teasing me on purpose.”
At that, Micah chuckled softly, a low sound that seemed to vibrate in his chest.
Without realizing it, his large hand had drifted to rest on her thigh.
The warmth of her skin beneath his palm made his gaze intensify.
When he spoke again, his voice was rougher, tinged with something deeper.
“I wish she was right.”
“Huh? What she said—”
The thought hit her halfway through the sentence, and her face went crimson. As she said… early in the morning…
The heat that had just settled inside her suddenly flared up again, spreading like wildfire.
Micah’s eyes were fixed on her, hazy with unspoken want as he leaned closer. Oriana panicked, her heart racing. “I–I’m going to change and head out!” she blurted, scrambling out of his
arms.
Before he could say another word, she bolted for the closet, nearly tripping over her slippers on the way.
Had she looked back, she would have seen the look in his eyes–dark, intent, and burning with a restrained desire that could have easily swept her away.

Chapter 263 Meet Up
With some rare free time, she arranged to meet up with the equally busy Zara.

The two planned a full day together–shopping first, then dinner. The moment they met, Zar launched into a lively rant about the eccentric people and ridiculous situations she’d run into lately. Oriana listened with an easy smile, occasionally laughing and tossing in her own stories to match.
After meal, they wandered down to the first floor of the mall and stopped at a jewelry boutique.
It was a prestigious brand, known for its craftsmanship and reputation for quality. The prices were steep, but the pieces were always worth it. This particular shop was the brand’s only directly operated store in all of Jindiwood.
Oriana had done her homework before coming. She’d already decided she wanted to buy a pair of matching jewelry charms to go with the bracelets she was planning to gift Micah for the New Year.
She’d even spent a few evenings comparing designs online–and had finally made her choice.
As soon as she explained what she was looking for, the salesperson’s eyes lit up. She opened the glass display case and carefully took out the pair Oriana had described.
They were exquisite, their details so fine they looked almost alive. In person, they were even more stunning than in the photos.
“Miss, you have an excellent eye,” the salesperson said warmly. “This pair has been our best- seller of the season–and you’re in luck. It’s the last set available in Jindiwood.”
Oriana smiled, her expression composed but pleased. “I’ll take them,” she said. “Could you help me attach them to these bracelets?”
She reached into her bag and took out two sleek, elegant bracelets.
When Micah wasn’t around, Oriana sometimes found herself absentmindedly playing with the bracelets. The once–rigid bands had become smoother and more polished over time, warmed by her touch.
The salesperson smiled and nodded, assuring her that it wouldn’t be a problem before turning to the counter to write up the receipt.
Zara leaned in close, smirking. “Look at you, Mrs. Caldwell,” she teased. “Not even glancing at the price tag anymore–so generous.”
It was true. Back when Oriana had been with Grant, she’d been careful to the point of

At the reminder, Oriana felt her cheeks grow a little warm. “Actually, I haven’t spent much of the money I’d saved before…”
In fact, she hadn’t even touched most of it. If anything, her wealth had mysteriously multiplied since she’d married Micah.
He’d noticed she rarely used the card he gave her, and instead of confronting her, he found other ways. Sometimes she’d “accidentally” find a stack of bills under the sofa cushions. Other times, she’d open an empty cookie tin to discover it filled with cash. Once, she even found a bundle tucked between her sweaters in the wardrobe.
And when she inevitably confronted him about it, he would just scratch his neck with that faintly awkward look and mumble, “Ah, maybe I left that there earlier. Keep it for now–I don’t really need it.”
Stack by stack, without realizing it, Oriana’s savings had doubled–no, tripled–since she first arrived in Jindiwood.
