Willow’s face drained of color. She bit her lower lip, her voice trembling as she murmured, “I’m sorry… I’m just used to calling you that.”
Kai didn’t even look at her. Instead, he turned to the salesperson. “Are there any left in other cities?”
The salesperson shook her head apologetically. “I’m afraid not, sir. This design is sold out worldwide. The next batch hasn’t even entered production yet.”
Kai’s tone dropped another octave. “You said someone just bought it. Who was it–and how long ago did they leave?”
If the buyer was still nearby, he could always make an offer.
The salesperson hesitated, then smiled politely and gestured subtly to the side. “They haven’t left yet, sir. It’s those two customers.” Kai followed her gaze. Willow turned too.
And just like that, the air in the boutique seemed to freeze.
Across the room, Oriana and Zara looked up from the sofa–meeting their eyes directly.
For a long second, no one spoke. Then Willow blinked, startled. She took a few hesitant steps forward. “Oriana? Zara? You two bought it?”
Her surprise quickly morphed into confusion–and then suspicion. Her brows knitted as she blurted out, “Wait… don’t tell me you already knew Luna liked this jewelry, and bought it before she could?”
Oriana’s lips parted, but she didn’t get a word in.
Zara rolled her eyes dramatically, her voice sharp with disdain. “What, you’ve only been gone a few days and already lost half your brain from fangirling?”
Willow’s expression hardened instantly. “Zara, what’s that supposed to mean?” she snapped, tone icy.
Zara folded her arms, meeting Willow’s glare with pitying amusement. “It means,” she said, enunciating each word with deliberate clarity, “that even when I speak slowly and clearly, you still don’t get it. Oriana’s been busy working every single day–she doesn’t have time to care what Luna likes.”
“Besides,” Zara went on coolly, “if Oriana really held a grudge, she wouldn’t have done nothing

during that horse–riding incident–she could’ve just stood there and watched Luna get thrown around.”
“You-!” Willow’s face flushed crimson. She was furious but couldn’t find a single word to argue back.
Because Zara was right.
Grinding her teeth, Willow turned to Kai, her voice turning soft and trembling, the picture of false innocence. “Kai, look at them! I only wanted to help Luna. She really liked that design–it was shining in her eyes!”
Zara made an exaggerated gagging sound, rubbing her arms as if her skin had crawled.
“Oh, please. Don’t tell me Ms. Sterling can’t afford a trinket worth thirty or fifty thousand? What was it, then–too cheap to bother buying, or just hoping someone else would gift it to her?”
Her tone was laced with mock surprise, her expression perfectly over–the–top. Even the sales clerks nearby struggled to stifle their laughter.
Willow’s face went from red to livid. “Zara!” she shouted, trembling with rage.
Before she could say more, Kai’s cold voice cut through the air like a blade. “Enough. There’s
pay whatever you ask.” no point arguing. Whoever bought it–name your price. I’ll
“Perfect,” Zara said cheerfully. “Two hundred and fifty thousand. Deal?”
Willow’s eyes nearly popped out of her head. “Two hundred–Zara, are you insane? The original price was only thirty–five thousand!”
Zara tilted her head, her smirk sharp and unyielding. “Oh? But didn’t your Mr. Kai say any price? What’s wrong now–can’t afford it, or just pretending to be generous?”
Oriana, who had remained quiet until now, finally lifted her gaze. Her calm eyes met Kai’s dark ones through his sunglasses, steady and unwavering.
“It is mine,” she said evenly. “And I won’t sell it. Not for any price.”
The boutique fell silent for a moment. Just then, the salesperson who had stepped away returned, holding two small boxes and the printed receipt. “Excuse me,” she said softly, “here are the last two ruby accessories.”
Kai’s brows lifted behind his shades. His voice came out low, clipped. “So there are two left after all,” he said. “Fine. Give me one. I’ll pay triple the price.”

His tone carried that faint air of condescension–like he was offering her some kind of favor.
Without another word, Kai reached out toward the tray, fingers brushing for one of the charms.
Zara’s eyes widened. “Hey!” she shouted, but before she could move, a blur of motion flashed past her.
Oriana stepped forward in one smooth motion. With a sharp twist of her wrist, she caught Kai’s arm and pressed precisely against a nerve.
“What the–ah!”
The pain hit him instantly. The tall man staggered, his knees buckling as his left hand went numb, completely useless.
In an instant, the once–dominant Kai found himself crouched on the floor, grimacing in
Zara darted forward, catching Willow by the arms before she could make contact. “Whoa there! He’s a grown man–what, can’t handle Oriana? What’s the rescue plan, exactly, scream him better?”
To her, this was the ultimate humiliation–her idol, the flawless Kai, being taken down in front of everyone.
Willow thrashed wildly in her grip, tears of rage blurring her vision. She kicked, scratched, even tried to headbutt, her fury spiraling out of control.
“You–you bought both of them on purpose!” she screamed, her voice cracking. “Oriana, don’t you dare say this wasn’t deliberate! You stole Luna’s place as the Sterling family’s heiress for over a decade, and now you still can’t let go! You won’t even give up a single piece of jewelry for her!”
