Oriana hurriedly patted his shoulder, ducking and dodging. “Wait- I haven’t even brushed my teeth…”
She had no idea she’d be met with something this intimate the moment she opened the door.
Micah’s hand slid around her waist. With a quick twist, he pinned her between the wall and himself. His other arm braced behind her head, cutting off any way to escape.
“I’m the only one who needs to be washed up,” he murmured.
And with that, he lowered his head and kissed her again.
Oriana tried to protest but was quickly overrun. She melted in his arms, helpless under the storm he stirred.
An hour later, Oriana lay boneless on the crisp white bed. Her long hair was damp and fanned over her shoulders, rising and falling with each breath.
Outside the arched floor–to–ceiling windows, the city stretched out in clusters of steel and glass. Morning light filtered through the mist, flooding the skyline and dancing across the buildings like golden ripples. It was so beautiful, and she couldn’t help but squint.
Then she felt the heat of him press up behind her. Oriana trembled slightly, instinctively pushing back with one hand. “Micah… I can’t anymore…”
She hadn’t realized until she spoke–her voice was hoarse. Her cheeks burned with embarrassment, and she quickly shut her mouth.
God knew how many times she had begged him for mercy during that last hour.
Had they been too loud? What if the neighbors heard them?
“The hotel has great soundproofing. And both rooms next to ours are suites. No one can hear a thing.”

It was as if Micah could read her thoughts. He pulled her firmly back into his arms, brushing slow, deliberate kisses across her cheek and the sensitive spot behind her ear.
Beneath the covers, their bodies were still pressed close, heartbeats loud and steady, pulsing louder than usual.
Oriana shrank her neck. She could feel it–Micah was still deeply aroused, even more intense

than usual. She let out a soft laugh. “We were apart for just one night. You missed me that much?”
His eyes stayed closed, lips still trailing across her skin. “It wasn’t just one night.”
Oriana froze.
Right. Her period, and the three days of recovery after… It had already been 11 days.
If he put it like that, maybe it did make sense.
Still…
She glanced around the room. Compared to the other suite, this one felt almost identical to their place back home.
The sheets, the pillows… even the scent–fresh lemon from the disinfectant she bought at the supermarket. She blinked. “When did you bring all this stuff over?”
Micah was still kissing her shoulder while cupping her chin, not lifting his head. “Around two or three in the morning.”
“Two or three? You didn’t sleep at all?” Oriana was surprised.
“No. I couldn’t.”
“Micah, you need to treat yourself better!” She scowled, genuinely upset.
Then, she pushed him away. “You know I’d worry. How could you still—”
The warmth left his arms, and Micah’s eyes snapped open. For a second, something dark flickered across his face–panic, and something else.
He immediately pulled her back in, tighter than before.
“Ouch…” Oriana gasped.
“What is it? Did I hurt you?” He let go instantly, flustered, hands running over her body. “Where does it hurt?”
“No, no, not that…”
Oriana caught his hands and held them still, her ears turning red. “It’s my back. Last night I bumped it accidentally. You just squeezed me too tight.”

Last night…
Because of Grant?

Micah had gone straight to confront Grant without a second thought. But when it came to Oriana, he hadn’t dared mention a word.
He was afraid. Afraid of the answer.
So instead, he chose not to ask.
His gaze shifted. Micah buried his face against her chest like she was something he’d nearly lost. His voice was low and fragile. “I’m sorry. I just… I missed you. I couldn’t help it. I missed you so much.”
“You…”
Oriana blinked, puzzled. Micah seemed… different, maybe a bit too sensitive.
She was about to ask what was going on, but then he leaned in again, his lips brushing her forehead, his kiss trailing slowly to the corner of her mouth.
