Before Zara could blurt out another outrageous guess, Oriana rushed forward and clapped a hand over her mouth.
Her face turned bright red.
“Zara, if you don’t stop talking nonsense, I’m going home.”
She tried her best to sound fierce, though her embarrassment ruined the effect.
Zara raised both hands in surrender, and only then did Oriana let her go.
The moment she was free, Zara hopped onto the couch, grinning like a cat with a secret. “So? Where exactly was it?”
Oriana squeezed her eyes shut, cheeks still flushed. “Room 2202. Next door.”
“Wow. Your husband really can’t get enough of you. He stayed over last night too?”
Oriana pouted. “He didn’t. He came over at dawn. Didn’t sleep the whole night.”
“Then where is he now? Come on, bring him over. After all that morning workout, you two must be starving,” Zara teased, sounding all enthusiastic.
Oriana’s face turned pink again. “I made him go to sleep. He stayed up all night. If he doesn’t get some rest, he might pass out any minute.”
She laughed softly, but her gaze dimmed. “Still, I can’t shake the feeling something happened last night. Like he’s hiding something from me.”
In that kind of intimacy, Micah had always been gentle, measured, always in control. But today, he hadn’t stopped even when she asked him to. That had never happened before.
It was as if he needed to hold her like that just to make sure she was real.
And those words he said this morning… they left a strange heaviness in her chest.
Zara folded her arms and rubbed her chin. “I don’t think it’s that serious. Dinner last night went perfectly fine, didn’t it?”
Oriana hadn’t told her about running into Grant.
She didn’t plan to either. There was no point in ruining Zara’s mood.

She shook her head and walked into the bathroom.
Then, Zara suddenly thought of something and followed her.

who
“By the way,
that guy
gave you Stormwind at Scabar, what was his name again? Ken… something?” she asked casually.
The sound of running water filled the room. Oriana froze, toothpaste in hand, then turned her head slightly. “Kenny?”
“Right, that’s it.” Zara rested her shoulder against the frame, tone light but eyes sharp.
“He helped you out that night. I thought he liked you. But now I’m hearing rumors you two aren’t getting along?”
Oriana, distracted by thoughts of Micah, didn’t catch the edge in Zara’s voice.
She only frowned in mild surprise. “So even you’ve heard about that?”
Zara’s expression darkened. She ground her teeth. “So it’s true? That jerk actually disrespected you? Tell me what he did. I’ll get even for you.”
“It’s nothing serious. He just runs his mouth. He still respects Micah too much to actually lay a finger on me.”
Oriana stepped out of the bathroom and poked Zara’s puffed–up cheek with a smile. “See? I’m fine. Don’t waste your energy on him.”
“Hmph. He’d better stay that way. If he ever dares to touch you, I’ll shoot him between the eyes.” Zara clenched her fist, dead serious.
Oriana tilted her head. “Wait, you sound like you know him.”
Zara’s heart skipped a beat. “No! Of course not. I’d never deal with a guy like that. Just heard a few stories here and there. Nothing important.”
She quickly changed the subject. “Now hurry up and wash your face. Lunch is getting cold!”
Zara pushed Oriana back toward the sink and darted out of the bathroom like her feet were on fire.
Oriana chuckled helplessly and didn’t press the issue.

The opening session of the AI Summit was underway. The venue was sealed off, entry strictly limited to invited guests.
There were two sessions scheduled for the day–one in the morning, one in the afternoon. Grant attended both.
The research institute’s representative was Jett. Micah wasn’t there.
It only meant he hadn’t been invited.
And that made sense. This was the first large–scale international AI conference ever hosted in the country. Not everyone could qualify. Even a powerful background meant nothing without genuine expertise.
Realizing this, Grant straightened his tailored suit jacket, a cold smirk curling at his lips.
He had overestimated that man. All show, no substance.
No wonder he had come running last night, trying to provoke him out of jealousy and drag him into drama just so he’d miss today’s event.
Did Micah really think that would slow him down?
level.
Micah, you are nowhere near my level.

After lunch, Oriana and Zara went out again.
They were heading back to the Caldwell Estate for the New Year tomorrow, and Oriana wanted to buy some gifts for the elders.
Zara, with her sharp taste, helped her choose quickly. In less than two hours, everything was done and arranged for delivery to the house.
Since it was still early, Oriana decided to stop by the stables to visit Stormwind. It had been a while.
She also wanted to speak to the horse trainer in person this time. She had asked Micah for his contact before, but he never got back to her. Something about that felt odd, so this time, she planned to handle it herself.
