Oriana nodded with a smile and was about to enter when she caught sight of two faint silhouettes through the glass doors of the living room.

Her brows lifted slightly. “Elena, does Mr. Stone have guests?”

Elena’s expression turned subtle. She leaned closer and whispered, “Yes, they’ve been here for a while. But Mr. Stone and Mr. Boone are both upstairs in the study.”

Oriana blinked, surprised.

From what she knew, Xander and Soren were always gracious hosts. It wasn’t like them to leave guests waiting in the living room.

Now, judging by the guests‘ overlapping shadows, they seemed a bit too intimate for such a formal household.

Clearly, these were not visitors Xander was pleased to receive, but politeness or circumstance must have kept him from turning them away.

Still, from this distance and with the glare on the glass, Oriana couldn’t make out who they were.

She wasn’t the type to pry into Xander’s private affairs anyway.

Turning to Micah, she traced a small circle in his palm with her fingertip. He understood instantly.

Micah nodded toward Elena and said politely, “Since Mr. Stone already has company, we’ll come back later to pay our respects.”

He handed the gift boxes to Elena.

Oriana added, “This is Mr. Stone’s New Year gift–it matches the one I gave Mr. Caldwell. There’s also a small thermos inside. He must have been tired after the long trip back last night, so I made chicken soup to help him sleep.”

Elena accepted it carefully. “I’ll deliver it to Mr. Stone personally.”

“Thank you,” Oriana said.

After expressing their thanks, Micah wrapped an arm around her shoulders, and the couple turned to

leave.

Elena watched them walk out of the courtyard before heading back inside.

Downstairs, Grant and Luna heard the footsteps and looked up in mild irritation.

Luna’s cheeks were flushed, her expression soft and demure.

Elena, however, didn’t seem impressed.

Seeing the maid walk past with gifts in hand, Luna stood up quickly. “Is someone bringing presents for Mr. Stone? He’s busy right now, isn’t he? Maybe it’s not the right time to interrupt him.”

She assumed Elena was helping someone curry favor with Xander.

Grant turned toward the window.

Anyone who could get this far into the neighborhood had to be wealthy and influential. If he could meet them, perhaps it would be good for his career.

But when he looked outside, all he saw was an even darker sky and two figures walking away.

For a fleeting moment, the sight of her graceful silhouette made his chest tighten. The thought struck him unexpectedly: she looked just like Oriana.

He immediately shook his head with a faint, mocking smirk.

Impossible. Oriana didn’t belong in a place like this.

Xander was one of the most powerful men in all of Jindiwood. Even the elite rarely had the privilege of meeting him.

If not for Luna’s unique connection, Grant wouldn’t have stood a chance of stepping inside.

Grant believed that Micah’s family was just new money who barely had any connections. Jindiwood was never short of rich guys.

Meanwhile, Elena’s polite but distant voice cut through his thoughts. “Ms. Sterling, please don’t worry. Those gifts came from the neighbors‘ children. Mr. Stone knows them well, so it’s fine to accept.”

A flicker of embarrassment crossed Luna’s face, but she quickly recovered with a smile.

“Ah, neighbors. Then that’s all right.”

Feigning curiosity, she looked outside and asked, “Why didn’t they come in, though?”
