They all transferred the money directly to her bank account, so Oriana couldn’t refuse. It went straight into her balance.
Oriana could only sigh, thank them one by one, and return the money, all in Micah’s name.
They had already been more than generous to her; any more would feel greedy.
After clearing her messages, she set her laptop on the bedside table, resumed writing her thesis, and kept glancing at Micah’s temperature.

“Grant, this is Luna’s first holiday away from home. Please take good care of her.”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Sterling. I will.”
“Ah, Grant, there you go again! Why still call me that? You and Luna are together now. It’s time to make some changes. The big day isn’t far off.”
Grant sat at his desk while Luna perched on the armrest beside him, looking every bit the loving couple.
Bramwell was overjoyed to see it.
He even took a screenshot, ready to show off to friends later–sure everyone would praise the perfect match.
Four years ago, on that stormy night when he took Oriana away, Bramwell had pointed at Grant’s face, calling him useless, shameless, a thug.
Now he was eager to close the distance, practically begging him to change how he addressed him.
Bramwell truly knew how to bend and stretch.
“What’s wrong, Grant? Daddy’s waiting,” Luna cooed, tugging at his arm.
Grant’s eyes flickered with sarcasm, but he went along. “Okay, Bramwell.”
“Good! That’s better!”
After a few pleasantries, Grant excused himself for work and ended the call.

“I’ll go make lunch and stop bothering you,” Luna said sweetly.
Just as she turned to leave, Grant asked, “Luna, has Mr. Stone contacted you?”
“H–He has.”

A sly smile curved her lips. “Mr. Stone even apologized last night, said he was sorry for not taking better care of us.”
“Did he invite us over?” Grant asked.
“He did, but Mr. Boone messaged me too, said Mr. Stone’s been tied up with a confidential mission. We should wait until he’s free.”
“Alright.”
Grant let it go for now, though his gaze lingered on her. “Didn’t expect the famously strict and unapproachable Mr. Stone to be so lenient with you.”
Luna smiled lightly. “That’s just rumors. He’s quite nice in private. Anyway, I’ll leave you to your work.”
“Mm.”
Once outside, Luna’s smile vanished.
Of course, she knew what Grant was plotting.
Damn it. She only wanted him to think she was valuable, but instead she’d gotten herself into trouble.
She had dodged his request twice already. What about next time?
She needed to make sure Grant lost interest in Xander once and for all.
After their first meeting at the summit, Grant had accelerated the schedule.
Now the biggest problem was the lack of skilled people–especially experienced graduates. Before the holidays even ended, he started recruiting.
He flipped through twenty resumes that Alaric had pre–screened. Not one satisfied him. His
brows furrowed in frustration.
Rubbing his temples, he swept the stack aside–then noticed one more at the bottom.

He skimmed it quickly: nothing impressive.
He almost moved on, but then froze.
His eyes narrowed on a single line under work experience:

“Interned at the Research Center as personal assistant to Chief Technician Micah Caldwell.”
Grant’s gaze sharpened. He picked up his phone and called Alaric. “That applicant, Leonard Parkins–half an hour. Interview in the studio.”
Half an hour later, at the studio.
Grant had just arrived when Leonard rushed in, freshly dressed in a suit after a last–minute notice.
“Mr. Holloway!”
“Mm.”
Grant nodded. They took the elevator together, heading straight to the conference room–no formal procedures.
It was the holidays, so only a few staff were on duty, no other interviewees in sight.
Being personally interviewed by Grant himself, Leonard puffed his chest, convinced he’d already won the job.
The interview began. Leonard introduced himself briefly.
But Grant lifted a hand, cutting him off.
“I see here you once worked as Micah’s personal assistant at the Research Center.”
Leonard blinked, then suddenly understood.
In this field, only Micah’s Research Center rivaled Grant’s Mountain River Planet.
He smiled. “Yes, I worked under Mr. Caldwell for nearly a year.”
“When exactly?”
