Micah feigned innocence. “Was I not being perfectly clear?”
The response made Oriana burst into laughter, nearly doubling over in amusement.

After composing herself, she updated him, “The review went well, but now I’ll be working with the expert team on the publication. There’s still plenty of work ahead.”
She gave him a heads–up, “Mr. Harris mentioned we might need after–hours meetings once preparations are underway, so I could be home later than usual.”
“I have full confidence in you,” Micah said, casually adding, “Actually, I’ll be quite busy myself in the coming days. Focus on your work–no need to worry about me. Just let me know if you need anything.”
Warmth blossomed in Oriana’s chest, her eyes softening. “Thank you, Micah. Having you by
my
side makes me feel so secure.”
From the moment she’d boarded the plane to Seabar, from their very first encounter, Micah had become her steadfast anchor, a constant, quiet source of strength and confidence.
He had always been this way–standing by her, supporting her unconditionally in every endeavor, never questioning her choices.
It always felt as though whatever she couldn’t handle, he would manage for her.
Reflecting on the day’s events, Oriana did find Luna’s exposure almost too seamless.
Perhaps the Sterlings had underestimated her. Perhaps they were too accustomed to looking down from their pedestal to take her seriously.
Or perhaps… someone had subtly guided Luna right into the trap.
Everything had aligned so perfectly.
It still felt somewhat surreal.
Since meeting Micah, her world had gained color and light. She was growing, thriving–her life filled with purpose, vitality, and the nurturing warmth of love.
This was a reality she hadn’t dared envision after leaving Grant.
Moved by her thoughts, she gazed at him with deep affection, but just as she was about to

:
Seeing the caller ID, she frowned in annoyance.
“Aren’t you going to answer? Who is it?” Micah asked.
She waved the phone dismissively, a cynical smile playing on her lips. “Luna.”
Micah’s eyebrow arched.

The phone rang incessantly. Seeing the caller’s persistence, Oriana sighed quietly, put it on speaker, and answered.
“Oriana! You finally picked up! I thought… I thought you’d never speak to me again.” Luna’s voice was laced with a wounded, almost accusatory tone, as if offended by the wait.
Oriana remained unruffled. “I’m celebrating the review results with my husband. What do you want?”
The casual remark struck a nerve, silencing Luna momentarily.
Seething internally but forcing a light, apologetic laugh, Luna said, “Oh, I see… Sorry for interrupting. I just… I acted impulsively. I’ve had time to think, and I regret it. I wanted to apologize properly—”
Before she could finish, Oriana delivered another verbal jab. “Plagiarism is a crime. If apologies fixed everything, we wouldn’t need the legal system.”
Luna was rendered speechless.
Clearly, Grant, who had been listening silently, could no longer contain himself. “Oriana, that’s enough! Luna has been crying all day, full of remorse! She gathered all her courage to apologize sincerely, and you respond with this sarcasm?”
So, Grant was there too. Of course, Luna wouldn’t call without an audience to witness her performance.
Oriana’s smile turned sharper. “Is my attitude the problem? She wants to play the victim after committing the crime? She’s already taken and claimed everything. What exactly am 1 supposed to do?”
She let out a cold, scornful laugh. “Was I just meant to be her stepping stone, handing over all my hard work?
“You two are perfect for each other, Grant. You and Luna are cut from the same cloth–selfish,
