Luna looked surprised, as if she had just noticed Oriana was alone. “Oriana, it’s Valentine’s Day. Is your husband not with you? Is the Research Center too busy?”

She then added with feigned concern, “No matter how busy work is, you’re newlyweds! You should still have some sense of occasion. You can’t be too accommodating, Oriana.”

Luna smiled, a gleam of undisguised challenge in her eyes as she looked at Oriana. “Oriana, you should join us. You’ve known Grant for years–having your blessing would make this even more special for us.”

Grant also stepped forward, putting his arm around Luna’s shoulders. His gaze was deep and intense as he stared at Oriana’s stunning face under the neon lights.

“Yes, the proposal tonight will be grand and spectacular. Micah never proposed to you, did he? Perfect, you can come see for yourself what kind of man you really married.”

Grant admitted to himself that part of the reason he wanted such a high–profile proposal for Luna was out of spite.

He wanted to announce it to the world. He wanted Oriana to know how capable he was, and how happy it would be to be his woman!

He wanted Oriana to regret it. Regret leaving him for Micah Caldwell!

Especially after what he witnessed at Jindiwood Port Hospital today. A gleeful light danced in Grant’s eyes.

He couldn’t wait. He couldn’t wait to see the regret and pain on Oriana’s face when she learned the truth!

Her words held a double meaning, insulting both Luna and Grant at once.

Evelyn looked furious. “What’s the point of dwelling on the past? Luna already apologized to you! What more do you want? It’s not like you suffered any real loss anyway!”

The Sterling family’s unconditional defense of Luna didn’t surprise or shock Oriana. It wasn’t the first time.

Or rather, they were the real family all along.

She was the one who never fit in.

Oriana suddenly let out a low laugh. “I have things to do. I won’t be part of your little show. As for blessings… I already gave mine.”

She gave

them one last deep look, then turned and walked towards the entrance of Aurora House. The staff at the door recognized her immediately and respectfully ushered her inside.

Owen, who hadn’t been able to get a word in, grew anxious as he watched her leave. He tugged at his

parents. “Don’t you know what Oriana is…? How can you talk to her like that?”

Bramwell looked completely unconcerned. “So what? Foolish boy, we’re on your sister’s side now! Whatever Oriana was before has nothing to do with us! Even her wedding was rushed and sloppy. How long can she keep up this act? Look, it hasn’t been long, and her husband isn’t even with her on Valentine’s Day!

“All pretence! There will be plenty of time for her to cry later!”
