Through the dark lenses of his sunglasses, Micah noticed her faint pout of disappointment— and the sight tugged at something deep inside him.
His hand slid along the curve of her waist, tracing upward until his fingers brushed the back of her neck, weaving gently into her soft hair.
Then he kissed her again–long, deep, and unhurried–as if he couldn’t get enough.
“I’m touched, honey,” he murmured between kisses. “The Valentine’s gift you prepared for me is something I’ll never forget.”
Micah’s sweet talk was always straightforward, never subtle.
Oriana’s eyes curved in laughter, teasing lightly, “What if I’d actually forgotten it was Valentine’s Day tonight? Wouldn’t that be kind of tragic for you?”
“Yes,” Micah admitted, his lips quirking into a grin. “But then, I’d make it up to myself–with a gift.”
“What gift?” she asked curiously.
He’s even planning to get himself a gift?
Micah leaned closer, lowering his voice to whisper in her ear.
Her entire face flushed crimson. She swatted his shoulder with mock outrage. “Micah! You’re way too generous to yourself!”
Apparently, he still hadn’t learned his lesson from the last time he got a fever—he was seriously thinking about having sex in the kitchen after midnight.
The image was too scandalous for Oriana to handle. She refused to think about it!
Micah caught her hand, wrapping it in his warm palm. He lifted her delicate fingers and kissed them with unhurried affection. His voice was soft, lazy, filled with devotion. “Honey, your career matters most. As your husband, I’ll always understand that. Just don’t forget to miss me once in a while.”
Oriana pursed her lips, momentarily speechless.

“I heard Mr. Caldwell’s supposed to be cold and unapproachable. Didn’t expect him to be this gentle with his wife. Color me surprised.”
“Gotta say, Oriana really nailed that surprise. It was so personal–totally tailor–made for Mr. Caldwell!”
After watching the whole scene from the private room, Jett and his friends came over, grinning from ear to ear.
“Honestly, Oriana, you should’ve seen him earlier,” Jett got the rare chance and teased with a smile. “Micah looked so lonely sitting in that private room by himself.”
Oriana smiled, still holding Micah’s hand, and thanked everyone who had helped make the night happen. “Thank you all for lending me a hand tonight.”
“Oriana, it’s totally fine! We should be thanking you–and Mr. Caldwell–for letting us witness such a creative and romantic drone show.”
“You’re amazing, Oriana. I heard you learned to operate the drones in ten minutes and flew them better than most beginners.”
“She did! I saw her control several at once–her hands were steady the entire time.”
“Well, of course. Micah’s wife is naturally brilliant.”
Listening to their coworkers‘ praise, Micah laced his fingers tighter around Oriana’s. “My wife shines on her own. She doesn’t need me to make her look better.”
The sweetness in his tone made the women around them squeal and clutch their faces.
“Did you hear that? Mr. Caldwell just set the bar!”
“Exactly! Ms. Sterling’s already incredible–she doesn’t need Mr. Caldwell to boost her worth.”
“Right? I heard she’s a clinical intern. Handling a scalpel is no easier than flying a drone.”
“Now that’s what a real partner looks like–he uplifts her, respects her, and celebrates her. Smart men know that’s the way to love.”
Their words spread fast. Even Jett got a playful scolding from his wife, and the other men started silently reflecting on their own behavior.
Nearby passersby who’d overheard joined in the praise. “He sees her value and recognizes her
