Oriana walked closer and finally noticed the faint dark circles under Leo’s eyes. He clearly hadn’t slept well.
Thinking about what Lily had said earlier—that Ethan had been in a weird mood last night–it wasn’t hard to guess. They probably spent the whole night celebrating Luna’s birthday or something.
But what exactly happened?
She didn’t dwell on it. Pulling out her laptop, she said calmly, “Let’s get started.”
“Yeah.”
Both of them focused immediately, diving straight into work.
Since they’d already reached a consensus earlier, their data analyses didn’t differ much. After one final cross–check, they were able to submit the report directly. That meant the first part of their workload was almost done–efficiency at its best.
With the extra time, they discussed the next stage and progress timeline. About an hour and a half later, the meeting wrapped up.
As Oriana packed her things into a canvas tote, Leo spoke, sounding a bit awkward. “By the way, I heard you got into Mr. Harris‘ program just like you wanted. Congrats.”
Oriana gave a polite nod. “Thank you.”
She picked up her phone–still no reply from Zara.
“Right, about what I mentioned last time, your situation with the Sterling family-”
Oriana’s brows knitted slightly. Before he could finish, she cut him off. “I’ve got something to take care of. See you.” Then she walked out in a hurry.
Leo stood frozen, watching her leave, his eyes filled with something unreadable,

After waiting and waiting with no reply from Zara, Oriana finally decided to call Zara’s mom,
Willa.
The call rang twice before Willa’s soft, graceful voice came through–gentle as always, though

this time there was a trace of weariness in it.
“Oriana, is something wrong?”

“Mrs. Radcliffe, sorry to bother you, but is Zara home? I texted her earlier, and she hasn’t replied.”
“Oh, you’re looking for Zara? She went on a trip to Kenorth. She’s probably on the plane and hasn’t had time to text back. Didn’t she tell you?”
“Kenorth?” Oriana was surprised. “She didn’t. She went alone?”
“Yes,” Willa said, sounding calm. “Her father and I thought it’d be good for her to clear her head a bit. She’s been wanting to visit Kenorth for ages, so we arranged a professional tour guide for her. It’s very safe.”
Hearing that, Oriana’s tense shoulders relaxed a little. “I see. I’ll reach out to her later then. I’m sorry for disturbing you, Mrs. Radcliffe.”
“Don’t be silly, you’re always welcome to call. You care about Zara–next time you’re back in Seabar, come visit us.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Radcliffe.”
Feeling reassured, Oriana ended the call and started to leave–but her phone rang again.
It was Micah.
She answered, chuckling softly. “You’re calling already? I just got out.”
Micah’s voice was tight and strained. “Something happened at home. I’ll be there in five minutes to take you to the hospital.”
Oriana’s heart skipped, her palm suddenly slick with sweat. “Is it Mr. Caldwell?”
“It’s Kenny. It’s serious. I’ll explain on the way.”
“Okay, I’ll tell Mr. Harris I need to take the day off.”

Twenty minutes later, at Jindiwood Port Hospital, SVIP Floor.
Micah arrived with Oriana just as Noah rushed in from Jindiwood Garden. Together, they
hurried into the ward.

Kenny was still unconscious, his face twisted in visible pain–even in his sleep, his body refused to rest.
The doctor exhaled heavily as they all stepped outside into the corridor. “Kenny’s condition is complicated.”
He hesitated before continuing. “Last night, he took a large amount of sildenafil and tried to endure it on his own. The drug has worn off now, but”
The doctor paused, glanced at Noah, and finally said the rest with visible discomfort. “The medication he used was imported–extremely potent but with severe side effects. It’s caused significant physical and psychological damage. I’m afraid Kenny may never be able to lead sexes again, and he might lose the ability to have children.”
“What?”
Noah’s whole body trembled. The man who had stood tall all his life suddenly stumbled backward a few steps, barely keeping his balance.
Oriana rushed to steady him. “Mr. Caldwell, are you alright?”
His face was pale and stricken. He shook his head weakly, looking to the doctor with a desperate glimmer of hope. “But medicine’s advanced these days, right? There has to be a cure?”
The doctor sighed. “There are treatments, yes, but the recovery rate is low. It depends on luck, really.”
The light in Noah’s eyes dimmed completely. His shoulders sagged as if the years had finally caught up with him.
“He’s so young,” Noah whispered hoarsely. “He just turned twenty. How could this happen? What’s Cordell and his family supposed to do now? And Kenny, how’s he supposed to live with this kind of humiliation?”
The room fell into heavy silence.
Just then, Kieran knocked and stepped in, turning to Micah. “Mr. Caldwell, we’ve got the full story. Last night, Velvet Midnight hosted a Valentine’s event. One of the club’s owners, Clara, gave Kenny the drug without his consent and forced herself on him. He locked himself in the bathroom to fight it off. When they found him this morning, he was already unconscious. Someone brought him straight to the hospital.”
Micah’s face darkened instantly. “That’s beyond outrageous!”
