Kenny still sat motionless, his head hanging low. Noah’s heart twisted with pity, and he said softly, “Your parents are on their way back right now. They’ll be here soon. I know how hard this must be for you. If you can’t hold it in, then let it out–cry, yell, throw something if you need to. Don’t bottle up your emotions. Just let it all out.”
For the first time in his life, Noah was being lenient with one of his grandchildren.
Kenny lifted his head slightly. “Really? I can do whatever I want?”
“Yes,” Noah said firmly. “As long as it makes you feel better, you have
my full support.”
“Grandpa, I don’t want to go back to school.”
“Then don’t,” Noah said immediately. “Stay here with me.”
“But my parents will call me a loser.”
“So what if they do? The Caldwell family’s got enough money for you to coast for countless generations! And if you want to start a business, I’ll fund it no matter how much you lose. You’ll have my backing all the way!” Noah said grandly.
“Grandpa, about that bright red Aston Martin I wanted before.”
“Buy it! Two hundred million? I’ll get it for you!”
Kenny turned to Micah. “Micah, I want you to spend more time with me from now on.”
Micah pressed his lips together, not answering.
Oriana spoke up instead. “Micah agrees. Whenever you need him, he’ll be there for you.”
Kenny eyed her skeptically. “You mean it?”
Oriana nodded. “I do.”
“You won’t go back on your word later?”
“Your grandfather’s right here as our witness. You can rest assured,” she said.
“Got it.” Kenny thought for a moment, then smirked. “Then what if I say I want you to break up with Micah–ah! That hurts!”

Micah had reached his limit. He strode over, grabbed Kenny by the short bristles of his freshly shaved head, and yanked him upright.
At last, they got a good look at Kenny’s face–there wasn’t a trace of sadness or despair. Instead, he was grinning from ear to ear, practically drooling with laughter.
“Micah, I was wrong!” he yelped.
Micah released him, his face cold. “Apologize.”
Kenny pouted, intimidated by Micah’s authority, and turned to Oriana. “I was just talking nonsense. Sorry, Oriana.”
Oriana exhaled in relief. Seeing that his mood was the same as always, she felt much calmer. There was no point arguing over something so trivial
“We’ve been worried about you this whole time—*
Noah raised his hand as if to smack the boy, but ended up just patting his back instead.
Kenny shrugged with a grin. “Come on, Grandpa! It’s not a big deal. So what if I can’t have sex?”
The room went dead silent.
Noah felt a mix of fury and gratitude.
He was still here—his silly, shameless little grandson was still very much alive!
For a moment there, Noah had thought the family line might really end with him.
Kenny, who hadn’t changed position all morning, crossed one leg over the other and gave it a lazy swing, completely relaxed.
When he noticed their dumbfounded looks, he grew anxious and tugged on Noah’s sleeve. “Grandpa, those things you promised me–those still count, right?”
That confirmed it–Kenny really was as carefree as ever.
Noah took a deep breath, resisting the urge to smack him.
His expression softened into one of weary affection. “They count. When your parents get here, I’ll tell them myself. And that Aston Martin–you’ll have it once you’re discharged.”
Kenny almost bounced out of bed. “Awesome! Grandpa, you’re the best!”

Then he sneaked a glance at Oriana and Micah.
He trusted his grandfather’s word, but as for Micah-
For the sake of his own safety, he decided to let it go.
As long as Micah had avenged him, Kenny was satisfied.

It meant he mattered to Micah—even just a little–and that was enough to make him happy.
Meanwhile, Noah’s heart finally began to lighten.
After all, children and grandchildren had their own way to go.
Even if his grandson could never have kids, that was still a kind of blessing.
If God wanted to play such a cruel joke, there was nothing man could do about it.
Before long, Albert brought in some food. Kenny tried to get out of bed, but as soon as his feet hit the floor, his legs gave out, and he crumpled. Luckily, Noah caught him in time and pushed him back onto the mattress.
Kenny blinked, dazed.
“Stay put and rest,” Noah scolded lightly. “Even if you can’t have kids, you still need to take care of your health.”
“Got it, Grandpa.” Kenny rubbed his nose sheepishly.
They ate lunch together, then let him rest.
When they stepped out, Noah turned to Oriana and Micah. “Kenny’s doing much better than I expected. He’s fine now. You two can head back–I’ll wait here for his parents.”
Oriana noticed that Noah himself looked far better than before. “It’s all right, we’ll stay you until they arrive.”

Micah naturally followed her lead. “You should rest in the guest room next door, sir. We’ll keep an eye on things here.”
“Good,” Noah said with a tired smile. “You two are thoughtful. I’ll rest a bit then. This morning nearly scared the life out of me.”
