Kai said nothing for a moment.

Panic flooded her tone. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to overstep. Did I interrupt your work? I just -I saw you hadn’t replied and thought maybe something had happened, so I got worried and-”

Kai couldn’t stand another second of her sugary, fake concern.

“The gown’s taken care of,” he cut her off flatly.

Luna blinked, caught off guard, then her tone brightened instantly. “Really? Thank you, Kai!”

He gave a humorless tug at the corner of his mouth.

Then, suddenly, he decided to test her.

“My stylist told me you were blacklisted by several couture studios today.”

Luna gave an awkward little laugh. “So you found out about that, too, huh, Kai?”

She paused, then sighed helplessly. “Yes, I did have a small conflict at one of the stores. Oriana and her husband were there, and they humiliated me in front of everyone. I lost control for a moment and said a few things I shouldn’t have.

“I didn’t expect it to blow up like that. Once the summit’s over, I’ll go back, explain myself, and apologize properly.”

Kai’s eyes narrowed. “So you’re saying the fight happened because of Oriana?”

“It wasn’t really a big deal.”

“If it wasn’t a big deal, why would they blacklist you?”

Luna thought he was defending her, so she softened her voice further, trying to sound pitiful yet magnanimous.

“Maybe those employees were just trying to curry favor. Oriana’s husband is powerful and wealthy–of course, they’d side with her. But I don’t blame them, really. They’re just doing their jobs. In Jindiwood, the weak get trampled; everyone wants to please the rich. I understand that.”

Her words flowed smoothly, every syllable wrapped in false grace and kindness–painting herself once again as the ever–understanding victim.

And in that instant, everything clicked for Kai.

All the illusions he’d built around Luna–the softness, the warmth, the supposed innocence–crumbled to dust.

Before, he had only heard her side of things. He hadn’t known better.

He trusted Luna. He respected Niall, and by extension, he’d trusted her.

But this time, he had seen the video with his own eyes.
