“No, thanks.” Kai’s tone was distant. “I’m busy. I might not have time to see you.”
Luna’s lips eased slightly. She could tell something was off about him, but she quickly put on her pitiful act. “Kai, what’s wrong? Are you mad at me?”
“Why would I be? What could possibly make me angry with you?” The mockery in Kai’s voice grew sharper.
“Really? I just thought you sounded weird. Maybe you’re just overworked and tired.”
Luna’s voice softened, pretending to be considerate. “Then make sure you get some rest, okay? You’ve already achieved so much, Kai. Don’t push yourself too hard. Anyway, I won’t bother you. Let’s talk next time.”
After all, Luna had already gotten the gown she wanted. Kai was no longer of any use.
Once the summit was over, her status would rise another level–she wouldn’t need any of them.

Kai hung up without another word.
The ten–minute call had been enough to make him sick to his stomach. Without hesitation, he blocked Luna’s number.
As for the gown, he decided to count that as the last favor he ever did for Niall.
Exhaling heavily, Kai grabbed his phone and sent a message in the group chat that had been dead quiet for days.
Kai said, “Guys, I finally get it now!”
Ethan and Arthur immediately replied, “What’s the matter?”
Oscar asked, “You running a fever or something?”
Kai replied, “Hell no! I just feel like puking–Luna made me sick!”
Kai continued, “How the hell didn’t I realize she was such a bitch before? Damn it!”
Ethan said, “Not only did you not realize, you were the happiest one licking her boots back then.”
Kai groaned, “Ugh! Don’t remind me–I might actually throw up my dinner!”
Leo asked, “Ethan, didn’t you say you were digging into Oriana’s background? What did you find?” Ethan said, “Perfect timing. I’m heading back to town tomorrow for the holiday. I’ll check it myself.” Kai questioned, “Why look into Oriana’s background? What’s that got to do with anything?”

Oscar asked, “You guys think Oriana might be Niall’s daughter?”

Leo said thoughtfully, “It crossed my mind. What if the babies switched at the hospital weren’t just anyone, but those two?”
Oscar asked, “If they were swapped, how come we never found that before?”
Ethan replied, “My men already investigated in Seabar. Nothing led to Oriana’s biological parents. But she’s been in Jindiwood all this time, and Lily said she’s never seen Oriana’s real parents once. For someone getting married, that’s odd. Her family should’ve shown up at least once.”
Kai exclaimed, “What the–don’t tell me she is Niall’s daughter! But didn’t you guys already confirm Luna at Niall’s grave? If Oriana were his kid, why hasn’t she paid a visit?”
Arthur said, “Who said she hasn’t?”
Arthur, who had been mostly quiet, suddenly spoke up. “If it’s true, then everything we did to Oriana before just to protect Luna-”
For a moment, the entire group fell into dead silence. No one said a word.
A heavy tension pressed down on the five of them, so dense it was almost suffocating.
After a long pause, Ethan said, “Tomorrow, when I head back to town, whoever has time, go to the cemetery. Check all visitor records from the time Oriana arrived in Jindiwood.”
Ethan emphasized each word, “Frame by frame, watch the surveillance
Kai volunteered immediately. “I’ll go!”

Oriana changed into several different dresses, each one personally inspected by Micah.
He examined every inch of her, from her shoulders down to her waist, leaving no detail unchecked.
“The back is too revealing; you’ll catch a chill,”
“The waist’s too tight. You won’t be able to sit comfortably.”
“The hem’s too short. You’ll flash someone if you’re not careful.”
“The fabric’s too rough. It might chafe your skin.”
After nitpicking every detail, Micah finally decided the first silver–blue gown was the best. Still, like a gentleman, he handed the final decision back to her.
“Of course, it’s your call, honey.”
Being scrutinized head to toe several times had Oriana’s face burning. She slapped away his warm hand. “Fine, I’ll go with your pick. It looks great!”
