Holding the three brand–new, illustrated tickets in her hands, Evelyn felt like she was dreaming.
Previously, Bramwell had tried every possible connection, up and down, and still couldn’t get any tickets.
How was it that now, so effortlessly, they were in his hands–without spending a single cent?
Owen, lounging on the sofa playing games, also raised his head, eyebrows furrowed. “Don’t tell me you secretly spent a fortune and just didn’t mention it?”
“Am I that stupid?”
Bramwell snorted and revealed the secret. “Remember Silas, the guy we briefly met at the SAT orientation at Seabar School?”
“I didn’t expect that the connections I lined up would just happen to get us in front of Mr. Marsh.”
Bramwell’s face glowed. “Mr. Marsh still remembers us. He knows our family of three came to Seabar, and that Luna is about to marry Grant. He wanted to use us to get closer to Mr. Stone, so I returned the favor and scored these tickets.”
Owen’s face fell. “Dad, you’re lying! Luna’s going to be mad if she finds out!”
Bramwell snorted again. “And why would she have the right to be mad? If anyone’s been deceiving people all this time, it’s her!”
Evelyn bit her lip, worried. “What if something goes wrong? What if it’s discovered later?”
Her expression kept flickering as she quickly grabbed Bramwell’s arm. “Maybe we shouldn’t go!”
“Women’s prudence–what do you know?”
Bramwell said sternly, shaking her off, “Do you think this is just about getting our son into the Top Talent Program? Mr. Stone also attended the summit!”
He gritted his teeth. “Luna’s been reaping benefits from Grant behind our backs. This time, we’ll make sure we get a slice too!”
“And if we get caught? So what? Luna had the guts to deceive everyone. Why can’t we do the same? We’ve lied so long already–one more lie, one less, what difference does it make? Bravery wins, cowardice loses. Look at how arrogant Grant and Luna are now. Besides, Mr. Marsh isn’t even in Jindiwood–what are we afraid of?”
Bramwell’s decision was firm. Ignoring Evelyn and Owen’s objections, he collected the tickets and went
into his room.
Evelyn clutched her chest, anxiety written all over her face. “Owen, why does my heart feel like it’s racing?”
Owen murmured, lips moving slightly. “I just hope nothing goes wrong.”

At Jindiwood Garden, next door, the Caldwell family was bustling, with people coming and going all day, preparing something.
Xander was standing in the backyard, about to sneak over to see what the fuss was about, when the security guard approached. “Secretary of Jindiwood, Mr. Hewitt Vale, has arrived with a guest.”
Hewitt’s teacher, Frazier Archer, had known Xander for years. Though they hadn’t seen each other in a while due to Hewitt’s workload, they were old friends.
Xander nodded. “Let them in.”
“Hi, Mr. Stone!”
Hewitt entered, greeting Xander warmly, asking after his well–being, and even bringing some gifts.
“They’re nothing fancy, just a little something. Don’t make me feel awkward.”
Xander had the maid unpack them. They were simple local products with a bit of soil still on them, fresh coffee beans, and a small bag of sweets.
Xander smiled faintly, “Thoughtful of you.”
After some casual conversation, Hewitt introduced his guest. “Mr. Stone, a few years back, I brought him here as well. Not sure if you remember.”
Silas stepped forward respectfully. “Mr. Stone, hello. I’m Silas Marsh.”
