Zara’s expression soured even more. “What do you mean by that? You planning to sleep with me?”

Kenny was already pissed, and seeing Zara recoil from him like that, his lips curled into a mocking, cold smile. “What’s the matter? You dare sleep with me, take my money, get knocked up, and then don’t have the guts to sleep in the same bed with me?”

“Oh please, who’s scared?” Zara put her hands on her hips, shaking her head with playful defiance. “I’m just worried you won’t have the guts to sleep with me and end up under the bed.”

Kenny ground his teeth. “Who’s scared? Just you wait. After I shower, I’m taking up the whole bed. Let’s see how you sleep then!”

Kenny felt victorious for a brief moment as he wrapped himself in a towel, humming, stepping out of the steam–filled bathroom.

But his triumph lasted barely three seconds.

When he saw the woman sprawled across his bed, lying with her legs splayed, his eyes instantly reddened.

“Y–you? Who permitted you to get on the bed?”

Zara, amused at his speechlessness, giggled and flipped onto her stomach, swinging her legs and winking at him.

“You didn’t say no getting on the bed if I hadn’t showered. What, are you a germ freak now?”

Kenny took a deep breath and stepped toward her, about to grab her.

But before he could touch her hand, Zara sprang up with a graceful flip, belly out in front of him. “Come on then.”

Kenny nearly hurt her belly by accident and jerked back just in time.

His breath hitched as he looked at the woman before him–face flushed, her top unintentionally pulled open slightly from leaning forward–her chest proud, eyes sparkling with teasing charm.

Kenny’s ears burned, and he could barely tear his gaze away.

He turned his head and heard her soft laughter. This woman, taking advantage of her “get–out- of–jail–free card,” always did as she pleased. His temples throbbed, fists clenched. “Oh, so this is how you are when my grandpa isn’t around!”

Kenny gritted his teeth. “I should’ve watched you take the medicine myself!”

“Yeah, sure,” Zara smirked, her lively eyes scanning him, finally settling somewhere below his abs.

“You and your whole family should thank me. Without the hope in my belly, your line would’ve ended!”

Kenny was practically out of breath from Zara’s boldness.

He grumbled to himself. “After you give birth, my mom will never forgive you!”

Zara, listening, didn’t get angry. Instead, she sighed contentedly. “You’re right. I’d better make the most of these good pregnancy days.”

Kenny wanted to yell, but ended up gripping the pillow tightly, turning his back to her.

Zara watched him curl up like a scared turtle and whispered, bored.

She patted her belly and lay back down.

The bed smelled of a stranger.
