A sleepless night had clearly taken a toll on him. Soren looked concerned. “Mr. Stone, maybe you should stay at a hotel outside town. I can-”
Xander closed his eyes to rest, raising a hand before Soren could finish. “It’s fine. We’re almost there anyway.”
The driver chimed in at just the right moment. “About half an hour left.”
“Okay.”
Soren opened his mouth to protest, but, seeing Xander’s insistence, wisely kept quiet.
Half an hour later, they finally arrived in Poweea.
The town seemed frozen in time, hardly changed from twenty years ago.
Poweea had once thrived–factories had sprung up, drawing workers from other regions.
But the factories didn’t last, and most people eventually left.
The car rolled up to the hospital.
It was still before eight a.m., and the doors hadn’t opened yet. Soren asked the driver to wait and headed to a nearby convenience store to grab breakfast for Xander.
Not long after Soren left, another car with Jindiwood plates pulled up diagonally across from them.
A sharply dressed young man got out. The driver watched him closely. The man merely glanced at them and then peered toward the hospital window, clearly heading there himself.
The driver whispered to Xander through the window.
Xander glanced over. “Focus on finding people first.”
The unspoken message Don’t interfere.
The driver nodded. “Understood.”
Ethan had deliberately detoured to Poweea, hoping the hospital still kept records from back then. Any lead would be helpful.

He checked his watch. There were about ten minutes until the hospital opened, so he leaned against the car and pulled out a cigarette.
At the same time, he sent a message to their group chat.
Ethan said, “I’m at the hospital.”
Kai replied at once, “Any luck finding anyone?”
Ethan said, “Too early. Doors haven’t opened.”
Kai replied, “Then wait a bit. Don’t rush off.”
Ethan rolled his eyes. “No need for your advice. Did you go to the cemetery?”
Kai sent a photo of the cemetery entrance. “I’m waiting for it to open, too.”
He, too, hadn’t slept all night, his mind constantly on this matter.
Ethan sent a quick acknowledgment and then noticed two middle–aged women riding bicycles toward him. He put away his phone and looked at them.
“Sir, here for a check–up?”
“You look in good spirits. What seems to be the problem?”
The women locked their bikes and opened the hospital’s large front doors.
“I’m not here for a check–up,” Ethan said directly. “I’m
women who gave birth at this hospital at the same looking for someone. Records of other
time as Rory, nineteen years ago.”
Ethan casually pulled a prepared stack of cash from his wallet and held it out. “Could you please help me look?”
The women’s eyes lit up at the thick wad of bills.
“Oh my, you’re very generous, young man!”
“Looking for someone, huh? Nineteen years is a long time, but don’t worry. If the hospital has records, we can check. Come in, have some water while we look.”
Ethan nodded. “Thank you.”
The three of them went into the hospital. From the car, Xander frowned slightly at the scene.

Soren returned with breakfast.

“Eat something first. I just confirmed that the guy comes here around 8:30 a.m. on the first and fifteenth of every month to pick up medication for his wife.”
“Soren, do you still remember the name of Niall’s wife?”
Soren thought for a moment. “I think Rory? Hey, Mr. Stone, where are you going?”
Before he could finish, Xander opened his door and strode into the hospital.
