She pointed to the scribbled handwriting. “If I remember correctly, back then, the hospital room held six women. Rory’s room was full, which means six women were giving birth at the same time–and, coincidentally, they all had daughters!”

Ethan’s expression tightened. “Six women?”

“Do you have info on the other five?”

“Of course,” the woman said. “It’s all written here–bed one is Rory, bed two is Evelyn, bed three-”

She rattled off the names. Before Ethan could ask where they were now, she continued, “Oh, I remember. A few years ago, Evelyn and her husband came here looking for their child. Said the babies got mixed up.”

“Exactly. That’s why I’m here. Evelyn recovered her daughter, but the daughter she raised- who are her biological parents?”

The woman frowned. “I don’t know. They had to use DNA testing to confirm the child.”

Ethan’s face hardened. “Give me the details on the other four women. I’ll test them one by

one.”

The woman snorted, laughing. “Test them? Where would you even test? You won’t find them anymore!”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, sir, to be honest, people were poor back then. Not many girls survived to adulthood. Out of six, having two survive was already a blessing from God. Plus, two of the women listed here died a few years ago. How do you expect to test them now?”

Ethan hadn’t expected this answer. He froze, deeply disappointed.

The woman eyed him, then snatched the cash from his hand with a grin that wouldn’t fit on her face, slowly closing the book.

“Sir, we’ve done our part. It’s early, and we’re exhausted. Consider this payment for our

trouble!”

At Nonrow Manor, Kai paced anxiously, waiting for the staff to finally open the gate.

He got straight to the point, asking to check visitor records from last year to the present, especially wanting to review footage to see who had come to pay respects to the Niall couple.

The staff hesitated at first, but Kai waved his phone and spoke boldly, “Name a price. I’ll handle this myself and won’t disrupt your business.”

The staff stepped aside. “We’ll pull up the footage. Look as long as you need!”

Soon, Kai sat in front of the monitor, dragging the timeline with the mouse, eyes fixed. From last summer onward, he watched frame by frame without skipping a single one.

At the hospital, the two women split the cash evenly, smiling as they pocketed it.

At that moment, a tall, thin man limping slightly walked in. The women’s expressions changed; one hurried forward with a small bag. “Drystan, you’re just in time. We’ve prepared your wife’s medicine. Take it home to her.”

They gently pushed Drystan back out, careful not to expose him to anyone he shouldn’t see.

Ethan, already losing hope, walked out distractedly.

Xander exchanged a glance with Soren.

Soren immediately strode over. “Drystan? He was Niall’s comrade.”

Drystan froze, and when his name was mentioned, he became puzzled, then looked back. “Who are you?”

Ethan, hearing the familiar name, stopped dead in his tracks, eyes sharp as he turned back toward Drystan.

The woman muttered nervously, “Wait, weren’t you waiting for someone?”

“We’re waiting for him.”

Soren didn’t give her a chance to speak. He stepped up to Drystan, extending his hand. “I’m Soren. I’m here to ask you something.”

Drystan hesitated but shook his hand. “What do you want to know?”

“Someone said your group of comrades found Niall’s daughter. Can you tell us anything?”

Drystan gripped the medicine, wary of the strangers. “Who are you, and why are you looking for Niall’s daughter?”

Soren didn’t waste words. He pulled out his phone, quickly found a photo of Luna online, and showed it.

“This is Luna. She was once Niall and Rory’s adopted daughter. Later, she was returned to her biological parents. But she’s been falsely claiming Niall’s achievements for personal gain. We’re here to find Niall’s real daughter and set things right.”

Ethan’s body tensed at the sight of Luna’s photo, emotions twisting into something complex and raw.

Drystan instantly erupted. “What the hell? Their adopted daughter, claiming their honor everywhere? God damn it! Niall and Rory lived upright, did so many good deeds without asking for anything in return, and now their reputation is being ruined by a girl?”
