Chapter 429 Possessiveness
The new car wasn’t as spacious as the previous one, but the ride still felt smooth and comfortable.
As always, the moment Kieran got in, he raised the divider—this time a semi–transparent on It didn’t block the view, just the sound.
Oriana leaned against Micah and opened the duty schedule. With a troubled sigh, she murmured, “I have to get up early for the next two days.”
Micah slipped his fingers through her long hair, smoothing out the frizz left from her hectic day.
He tapped her nose with a smile. “Were you telling me that on purpose?”
Oriana blinked at him, pretending innocence. “What? You planning something tonight, Mr. Caldwell?”
“Yes. I want to. Not just tonight. I want you right now.”
He lowered his head as if he truly meant it.
Startled, Oriana pressed a hand to his chest to hold him back, nearly biting her tongue in panic as she frantically hinted, “The divider is transparent. Not happening.”
“Is that so?”
Micah frowned, clearly displeased. “Then tonight I’ll have Kieran replace it with a blackout panel.”
Oriana’s mouth twitched. “What, you planning to pick me up from work every single day?”
“Not just after work.” Micah traced her chin with the tip of his finger, teasing her like she was a kitten. “I’ll drive you to work too.”
Oriana stared at him, genuinely surprised.
Micah let out a quiet laugh as he explained, “The Intelligent Medical Project isn’t just a one–off collaboration. The Research Center wants to build an entire system. It’ll start with a pilot program in the affiliated hospitals, then expand nationwide–maybe even worldwide–to benefit all humankind. The scale is huge. They expect it to take five to ten years.”
Then his tone shifted, deep and serious. “So unless something unexpected happens,

sweetheart, I’ll be driving you for the next five to ten years.”
Oriana was so stunned that she couldn’t speak.
After a long moment, she finally found her voice and tugged playfully at his ear. “So you planned to take over this project a long time ago, didn’t you? And not because of Grant?”
“Both.”
Micah lowered his head following the motion of her hand and rubbed his forehead against h neck. His loose hair slid into her scarf, brushing her skin and making her squirm.
“I wanted more time with you. And I didn’t want him anywhere near you.”
His sincere yet childish words warmed her heart.
Oriana pulled his face out of her scarf. “Mr. Caldwell, your plan was impressive. Too bad there’s one tiny complication.”
She immediately felt Micah tense under her palm. “What complication?”
Oriana quickly patted him to calm him. “I’m leaving next week for the volunteer program. I’ll be away for almost half a month. Not only will you not be picking me up, but I won’t even be home.”
Micah fell apart instantly.
Without thinking, he knocked on the divider. The moment it slid down, he ordered, “Take two weeks off for me.”
Both Kieran and Oriana froze.
Oriana’s face went crimson. She rushed to tell Kieran, who almost lost control of the steering wheel. “Don’t mind him. He’s joking.”
Then she grabbed her stubborn husband’s head and forced him to face her.
After a deep breath, Oriana said each word slowly and firmly. “Micah, you can’t do this. I have my job. And you have your own responsibilities.”
Micah’s expression turned dark and heavy. “I can’t be away from you. When you went to Seabar for three days, I already missed you so badly. That was my limit.”
And now we’re supposed to be apart for half a month?

Micah simply couldn’t accept it.
“Micah! Even if you go, I can’t spend time with you. Everyone on the medical team has to eat and live together. I can’t sneak off to find you, and I can’t leave the team whenever I want. Even if you fly there, we still won’t see each other.”
He pressed his lips into a tight line, jaw clenched so hard the muscles jumped. Oriana grew frustrated by how stubborn he was.
She had always known he loved her more than she loved him.
But she never expected his possessiveness to run this deep.
When she first met Micah on the plane, she’d thought he was a refined, calm man radiating gentle warmth. She never imagined he would turn into this.
“Micah, it’s just two weeks. If you miss me, we can call or video chat every night before we sleep.”
He answered in a stiff, clipped tone, “I can hear you, but I can’t touch you. That’s even worse.”
