Chapter 431 Wedding Gift

Oriana finally caught on. She hadn’t expected the little halo Luna once slapped onto her to come in handy now.
She quietly shot Micah a look. “Mr. Caldwell, you’re being a little naughty.”
Micah arched a thick brow, clearly pleased with himself. “How is it naughty when I’m just listening to my wife?”
Oriana puffed up her cheeks, baffled. “How did this suddenly become about me?”
Micah didn’t answer. He simply watched her in silence.
Some things didn’t need words.
Oriana frowned, and only then did the realization hit her. She stuck her tongue out, guilty in hindsight.
Right, she was the one who had asked Xander for help after the summit.
So she technically shared the credit for digging this pit.
Lips pressed together, Oriana stopped teasing Micah.
Just then, a video call popped up from Zara. The moment it connected, Zara appeared with a miserable face.
“Oriana, I’m so sad.”
Oriana’s heart tightened. “Zara, what’s wrong?”
Zara wailed, “I’m getting my marriage license. I’m actually getting married!”
Oriana froze.
Kenny, standing beside Zara, froze too.
Kenny couldn’t help rolling his eyes. “Seriously? We were already planning to get married. Why are you freaking out?”
“You don’t get it! Being prepared is one thing–actually doing it is another!” Zara declared righteously. “Yes, I’m dramatic. So what!”

When she said that, Kenny was completely speechless.
Oriana burst into a soft laugh. “You two are getting your license in Seabar?”

“No. My parents mentioned it tonight. They wanted to come see Jindiwood, and said we might as well get it done while we’re here–sometime in the next couple of days.”
Oriana’s smile brightened. “That’s perfect. I have volunteer work in a few days. If you get your license before that, I can be there to congratulate you.”
Zara pouted. “How long will you be gone? Maybe we should wait until you’re back.”
“I’ll be gone for half a month. Can Mr. Radcliffe and the others wait that long?”
“Then no. They’ve got a ton of work at the company. They’ll probably only stay in Jindiwood for three to five days.”
Zara let out a melancholy sigh. “I was just getting excited about Luna’s gossip, and now I’m being dragged into the chaos myself.”
When he heard her reluctant tone, Kenny’s expression darkened.
Marrying me makes her that reluctant?
Kenny let out a cold laugh.
Even if she’s unwilling, she’s still marrying me. She’s the one who agreed to have my kids for money.
After hanging up, Oriana wore a bright, pleased smile, already picturing Zara and Kenny’s wedding–license moment.
No matter what, her best friend was stepping into marriage. That deserved cheers and blessings.
Micah sounded a bit jealous. “You look happier about their wedding than you did about our
own.”
His words instantly pulled Oriana back to that night they had just arrived in Jindiwood–how they rushed to the city hall in the middle of the night to get their license.
She’d been flustered and awkward then. She barely even knew Micah at the time.
Now, everything was different.
Oriana wrapped herself around Micah’s solid arm, leaning into his shoulder as she forced back

a laugh and offered a sweet suggestion. “Mr. Caldwell, if you’re not satisfied, we can always get our marriage license again.”
Micah didn’t hesitate. “No.”
He caught her mischievous hand, locking her wrist firmly in his palm. With a frown, he issued a stern warning. “Don’t even think about it.”
Oriana stuck her tongue out again. “Fine.”
At Oriana’s insistence, the two of them got out early at a mall near their community and carefully picked out a wedding gift for the soon–to–be newlyweds before walking home hand in hand.
But halfway there, Oriana caught a whiff of grilled fish drifting from a roadside restaurant- and her stomach immediately protested.
Gurgle-
Micah kept his face straight. “You said you weren’t hungry when you got out of the car.”
Oriana chuckled sheepishly. “The gift was impossible to choose. We spent forever on it. Ten more minutes and we’ll be home. I can make it.”
Micah couldn’t bear to let her stay hungry. “Do you want some?”
It had been a long while since Oriana had eaten something like this after getting married. She stared at the grill for two seconds, and somehow she felt even hungrier.
Micah didn’t ask again. He just took her hand and led her toward the restaurant.
Oriana tugged him back and leaned closer, lowering her voice uncertainly. “This place doesn’t look very sanitary. Maybe we should go home instead.”
