The receptionist replied with a professional smile, “I’m sorry, but that’s a direct order just issued from Mr. Holloway’s office–no visitors unrelated to business.”
Jonathan felt a pang of frustration, inwardly cursing Grant’s coldness.
But remembering her purpose for coming, she decided to endure it. “Alright, then. I’ll wait outside for Mr. Holloway to finish work. Is that acceptable?”
Given the recent studio gossip and today’s PR efforts, the receptionist naturally didn’t dare cause trouble. She could only smile and nod. “Mr. Holloway’s working hours are unpredictable. Are you sure you want to wait?”
“Yes, I’m sure.”
“Very well. Please take a seat in the side waiting area.”
Jonathan nodded, glancing back several times as she made her way to the waiting area.
The area faced away from the main entrance and was quite empty. Moreover, it was adjacent to a garden terrace, which meant it was particularly windy.
Although spring had arrived, Jonathan wasn’t dressed heavily. As night fell, the evening breeze grew colder.
After six o’clock, staff members left the studio one after another. Even the receptionist turned off the studio’s logo light, picked up her bag, and prepared to leave.
Just before leaving, she remembered something and walked over to Jonathan. “Miss, perhaps you should come back another day…”
Jonathan shook her head. “No, I’ll wait for him.”
“Well… alright.” Seeing her determination, the receptionist didn’t press further. Before leaving, she sent a message to Grant’s assistant, informing him that a young lady was waiting for Grant outside.
Fearing it might be something important, the assistant relayed the message truthfully.
Grant merely frowned slightly, dismissing it entirely. “Ignore her. If she wants to wait, let her wait.”
Grant assumed it was just another media reporter trying to harass him.

He was tired of dealing with these random people.
Grant stayed in his office, working on the system bugs plaguing the OHM robot.

As the chief designer, with Oscar having abandoned his post and no suitable replacement chief technician found yet, this task fell squarely on his shoulders.
Plus, having drunk that very filling bowl of fish soup, Grant didn’t feel hungry at all. He sat before the screen, typing away.
Time slipped by unnoticed until a sharp ringtone jolted him. Grant realized it was already 9:30 PM.
Glancing at the caller ID, he instinctively frowned but still answered.
“Grant.”
Luna’s sweet, cooing voice came through. Grant suppressed his impatience. “What is it?”
“Grant, are you coming home tonight? I’ve been waiting for you for so long…”
“I’m still busy. Not sure if I’ll make it back.”
“That much work? You didn’t come home last night, and you’re not coming back tonight either… Grant, are you still angry with me? I…”
“I don’t have time to waste on trivial matters.”
Grant enunciated each word clearly. “If you’re bored, have Ella keep you company. I’m still fixing critical issues. I’m hanging up now.”
Without hesitation, he ended the call.
Regarding Luna, he hadn’t figured out how to handle the situation. procrastination seemed the best option.

For now,
Grant stretched slightly, checked that the night’s work was satisfactory, saved his progress, and shut down the computer.
He then stood up, turned off the office lights, and prepared to leave.
As he walked out, he called the Velvet Midnight bar. “I’ll be there in half an hour. Decant a bottle for me. Yes, the one I bought the day before yesterday…”
Grant’s words abruptly halted.

He held the phone, his gaze fixed straight ahead on the large sectional sofa in the lobby. A woman was curled into a tight ball against the cold.
Half her face was tilted upward, revealing smooth skin.
For a fleeting moment, Grant was transfixed. Unconsciously, the name slipped from his lips. “Oriana…”
The scene was achingly familiar, a ghost from his past. It took him back to his scrappy startup days, when Oriana would finish her university classes and wait for him just like this–patient and quiet, never pushing, never resenting the hours he spent buried in work instead of with
her.
She’d wait until he finished everything, then accompany him for late–night snacks, holding his hand all the way home.
“Mr. Holloway? What did you say?” The server’s voice on the phone pulled him back to reality.
