However, Grant tapped the desk with a mocking smile. “Bramwell, just a moment ago, Mr. Maine was chatting and laughing with you. Without his help, you might not even have gotten to see me. Your turnaround is so fast. I’m impressed. If you treat me like this today, who knows? Maybe one day you’ll do the same to him.”

“That’s absolutely impossible! You’re the apple of my precious daughter’s eye. Who else would I harm? Certainly not you!”

Bramwell immediately straightened his face and spoke seriously. “If you don’t trust me, I can swear an oath. As long as you accept Owen, I won’t interfere or ask about what he does in the company. If I break that promise, may I suffer the worst fate–death by lightning!”

Owen’s expression changed slightly. “Dad! How can you—”

Bramwell waved it off casually. “What’s the big deal? My heart is with you all. God can see my sincerity. No matter how harsh the punishment, it won’t fall on me.”

Owen remained silent, clenching his fists tightly.

Grant just watched their performance quietly.

To be honest, their acting was impressive–flawless and convincing.

After a moment’s thought, Grant suddenly felt a heavy pressure in his chest–not pain, but discomfort.

This symptom had started a couple of days ago. Grant had assumed it was from overwork and lack of rest, combined with the stress of discovering Micah’s secret. He hadn’t paid it much mind.

He thought he’d feel better after adjusting his routine.

But now, Grant didn’t bother to negotiate with them further. The Sterling family members were groveling before him, so there was no need to be too particular.

After all, they all depended on him to get by. If Owen kept hanging around without making a name for himself, Bramwell would probably make Luna support Owen, and Grant would be the one losing out.

It was better to assign Owen somewhere to keep him busy, so the Sterling family couldn’t complain.

Grant looked at Owen. “Which department do you want to join?”

“Thanks, Grant.” Owen hesitated a moment. “I haven’t studied computer science. I’m still self–learning. In college, I majored in management and minored in international economics…”

Grant had no use for Owen in management.

Grant frowned slightly. “Go to finance. Alaric is in charge there. Let him guide you.”

“All right, if that’s everything, you can go now. I have a meeting to prepare for.”

“Okay, you’re busy. But take care of your health. I heard Luna has been learning to make soups lately. She’s pretty good. You should drink some.”

Grant understood. Looks like the Sterling family couldn’t get by in Jindiwood and had turned back to Luna.

Luna was alone, pregnant, and must have felt uneasy living by herself. It made sense she’d reconcile with the Sterling family.

As long as they kept to themselves and didn’t bother him, that was fine.

Bramwell and Owen thanked him profusely and left. Grant rubbed his aching temples and remembered the message he’d recently sent to Oriana on his phone.
