Little Bean gasped in realization. "So Melody is just using Sienna?!"
Seraphina corrected him gently. "It's mutual exploitation."
"Sienna needs a miracle to save her reputation, and Melody needs a disposable pawn to do her dirty work. It's actually a very predictable partnership."
Little Bean huffed, his tiny voice brimming with righteous indignation. "Why is everyone always ganging up on you, Mom?!"
Seraphina let out a soft laugh, her tone entirely unfazed. "Because I'm standing in their way."
Little Bean let out a determined hum. "Well, you better be careful, Mom!"
Seraphina nodded. "I will."
Two days later, at The Alabaster Club.
When Sebastian and Sienna arrived at the private room, Melody was already waiting.
Sebastian looked at her and offered a polite, measured nod. "Ms. Monroe. It's a pleasure."
Melody offered a faint, imperious smile. "Mr. Sullivan. Have a seat."
Sebastian took the chair across from her.
Melody didn't waste a single second on pleasantries. "Mr. Sullivan, Sienna tells me your company has run into some complications with your latest project."
Sebastian nodded smoothly. "A minor setback. We've mostly handled it."
Melody smiled knowingly, not bothering to call his bluff. "Glad to hear it. But as I'm sure you know, in the new energy sector, having the tech is only step one. Securing the raw materials is the real bottleneck."
She paused for effect before dropping the bait. "The Monroe family is heavily invested in this sector. We have the network, and more importantly, we have an absolute surplus of materials."
Sebastian's eyes narrowed slightly. "And what exactly are you proposing, Ms. Monroe?"
Melody met his gaze dead-on. "A partnership. A fifty-fifty split of the profits."
Sebastian fell silent for a long moment. "Why approach me?"
Melody answered without missing a beat. "Because you're suitable."
She left it at that.
She had zero genuine interest in partnering with the Sullivan family. She was only doing this to put a knife in Seraphina's back. As long as Seraphina was suffering, Melody was winning.
After a heavy silence, Sebastian finally spoke. "A fifty-fifty split... just how extensive is the Monroe family's supply network?"
