On the sofa, Lawrence was sipping his tea, with Charlene seated right beside him.
Charlene was dressed in a vibrant floral dress, her makeup utterly flawless, carrying herself with the haughty air of a high-society matron.
She offered Seraphina a tight smile. "Seraphina, that belly of yours looks even bigger. You must be due any day now, right?"
Seraphina gave a polite nod, keeping her tone completely neutral. "Yes, Charlene. In less than two months."
"Well, you really must rest up. They say a woman giving birth is like brushing with death." Charlene feigned a look of deep concern, though a flash of disdain briefly crossed her eyes.
Lawrence glanced over at Lucian and Seraphina, a mocking half-smile playing on his lips.
"Lucian has finally learned how to dote on someone. He hardly ever goes out for business dinners these days."
"As he should. When a man's wife is pregnant, he needs to step up and be attentive," Grandma Eleanor chimed in happily.
She gave Seraphina's hand a joyful pat. "I've already had the staff prepare the nursery. We've got everything ready and waiting for my precious great-grandson."
"Thank you, Grandma," Seraphina replied warmly.
She was genuinely touched. Eleanor truly adored both her and the baby.
Lawrence chimed in from the side. "Mom, aren't you getting a bit ahead of yourself? We still have two months to go."
"What do you know? Having a baby is a massive event. Of course we need to prepare early!" Eleanor shot him a sharp glare. Then, she turned back to Seraphina, her face breaking into a wide, joyous smile. "Boy or girl, it doesn't matter to me. A beautiful daughter just like Seraphina would be wonderful, or a handsome boy like Lucian. Let's just hope the baby doesn't inherit his cold, unlikable personality!"
Lucian's mouth twitched slightly at the comment.
But at the thought of his unborn child, a barely noticeable smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
He hadn't really thought about whether he preferred a son or a daughter. As long as the baby was healthy, he would be happy.
Seraphina glanced at Lucian and shared a quiet smile with him.
She knew Lucian was going to be an incredible father.
Little Bean did a happy roll inside her belly and whispered, "Don't worry, Great-Grandma! Even though I'm a boy, my personality definitely won't be cold like Daddy's. Hehe!"
