"Mommy's face is so red! What exactly were Daddy and Mommy doing just now? Have no shame!"
Seraphina averted her gaze, mentally replying to him, "Stop talking nonsense."
Lucian took a step forward and reached out to stroke his son's soft, chubby cheek.
"Be a good boy, Little Bean. Daddy and Mommy are going out on a date. You stay home and behave, alright?"
Little Bean stared at him, waving his tiny hands in protest.
"I'm so pitiful! Daddy and Mommy are ditching me to go on a date, and they won't even take me with them."
Seraphina rolled her eyes at her dramatic baby. "You're overacting."
Right on cue, Little Bean let out a massive yawn, squeezing a real tear down his cheek.
But his inner voice completely changed its tune: "Fine, fine. You go enjoy your date, Mommy. I'll be a good boy, drink my milk, and go to sleep."
True to his word, he buried his little face into Susan's shoulder and went completely still.
Lucian seized the opportunity to nod at the housekeeper. "Take him to bed."
Susan nodded and carried Little Bean away.
Only then did Lucian turn back around, firmly clasping Seraphina's hand once more.
"Let's go."
Seraphina followed behind him with small steps. Looking at the broad expanse of his back, her emotions felt incredibly tangled.
If only he wasn't keeping secrets from her.
If that were the case, he would truly be the perfect husband.
They got into the car.
Seraphina reached for her seatbelt, but Lucian was faster.
He leaned over her, pulling the strap across her body and clicking it securely into the buckle.
His movements were incredibly smooth and natural.
Staring at the top of his head just inches away, she caught the faint, refreshing scent of lime from his hair.
It was her favorite scent.
Her heart traitorously skipped a beat again.
"All set," Seraphina prompted, trying to ignore her racing pulse.
Lucian leaned back into his seat and started the engine.
