Mysterious mate to the lycan prince (Addison and Max) novel Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Addison

After telling Max where to meet me. I made my way there and waited, Lyra going out of sight.

I kept looking down at my phone, counting down the minutes to when he would show up since he was the one who had suggested the time that night. I expected that he would be right on time, but I reminded myself that I was dealing with a Lycan Prince. Still, he didn’t have to keep me waiting for so long

Slowly, I began to feel a certain level of discomfort and I knew he was getting closer and closer. I finally sensed which direction he was coming from and I looked behind me, spotting him dressed in his royal attire, then looked away and faced the tree in front of me.

“Stop right there,” I said to him, my tone a little hostile. “I don’t want you to get too close.”

“I have some news for you, Addison. You don’t get to give me orders.”

I scoffed at the change of his tone and that didn’t stop me. “I don’t care. Stay where you are or I’m leaving. I don’t want you any closer.”

“Is it because you’re mad at me about what you learned today, or is it because of the way I make you feel when I’m close?”

I shut my eyes. “It’s everything and you know it.”

“Before we even talk about this, there’s something that I first need to say.” His tone turned a little softer

“Oh, yeah? And what exactly is that?”

I crossed my arms and pursed my lips, certain he was about to apologize to me but the words that came out of his mouth were not what I expected.

“Happy birthday.”

Turning around to face him, I zoomed in on his blank expression.

“Seriously?” I raised my eyebrows in disbelief.

“Did you think I forgot?”

I smacked my lips. “That’s the last thing I thought you were going to say.”

“What else could I possibly say?”

The fact that he didn’t even realize it made me give up on it.

“You look so different in that royal attire,” I said.

“As I should.”

“Can you please explain yourself to me? I have so many questions. You lied to my face so many times.”

“I know I did but if I could go back in time, I would definitely do it again. It was absolutely necessary.”

“You really sound so full of yourself. I’ve been thinking a lot and now it all makes sense. I remember the way you spoke at times, as if giving permission. There was also the way you never apologized when you did something wrong.”

“Why would a Lycan Prince apologize?”

“You know what? Let’s not even go there.” I firmly shook my head. “Anyway, you wanted to talk? Spit it out so I can leave.”

“I know about your family.” He clenched his fist.

“I also know about yours. Your father’s a monster.”

He suddenly growled. “How dare you disrespect my father like that? He’s the Lycan King. Learn to address him with respect!”

“Respect? He doesn’t deserve it.”

“I’ll have you arrested for disrespecting your Lycan King”

I chuckled. “I’m not from here, remember?”

“I’ve never seen anyone so bold as to insult my father. What gives you the right?”

“It’s because of what he made my dad do in the past and you know it.”

“Your father was only tasked to carry out his duties. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

“I’m not talking about regular duties and you know it. You know what? I’m not about to get into this with you because you’ll obviously defend your father. You’re meant to take over the throne, so why should I even bother? I hate that I have to see your face after everything.”

“You could’ve easily chosen not to show up, but here you are.”

“The only reason I’m here is because this is my chance to find out what’s going on with us.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” he asked, his voice full of irritation.

“I found someone who could help. Actually, she came to me. Her name is Lyra and she’s a witch. She’s actually watching us right now. She should be able to figure out what’s going on. You will need to get closer for physical contact but now that I think about it, I don’t want you any closer than you already are.”

Suddenly, he dashed in front of me with lightning speed, standing just a meter away from me as he towered over me and my heart skipped a beat.

“And why don’t you want me this close?” he asked, his breath a little heavy.

Chapter 28

Despite the discomfort that I felt, I stared right into his eyes as I said, “You’re nothing but a jerk.”

“And yet, you need me to touch you for this to work,” he whispered, his gaze intense.

“I know that. Don’t remind me because I hate it.”

“Do you?” he asked, teasing me while raising his hand and placing it on the side of my arm without yet making physical contact. “If you hate it that much, then I guess I’m not doing it.”

Lyra had told me how important it was that she figure this out, which was why I wasn’t supposed to mess this up. It was for this reason that I didn’t want him to stop.

Leaning forward to bring his face closer while looking down at my lips, he said, “Should I stop?”

I glanced at his lips, the level of discomfort still not stopping me. “No, touch me.”

“With pleasure,” he smirked.

As soon as his hand came in contact with my arm, I hissed in pain, my eyes instantly glowing and Saga beginning to surge. I growled, dropping my head to the side in a greater discomfort. It only got worse when he placed his other hand on my other arm.

It only took a few seconds for everything to be more than I could bear and my knees went numb but he kept me in place.

As our glowing eyes locked, mine burned with fury.

“Please let me go now!” I begged him, unable to take it anymore.

“No,” he said, licking the side of his lip with a primal urge.

Right at that moment, the wind around us began to blow, just as it did that day.

I hoped Lyra had already taken note and didn’t need to see more. That was more than I could bear, and so I placed my hands on his broad chest, pushing him away so hard that he let me go and stumbled backwards.

With glowing eyes and a racing heart, he tilted his head, watching me from that distance while drawing his lower lip between his teeth.

I knew it wasn’t good for me to keep being there, so I called out to Lyra while I tried to catch my breath, begging her to take me away and in a blink of an eye, she did.

Now in a different location, the instant relief now that I was far from Max made me lie down on the ground.

“I hope I never have to do this again because that hurt more than last time,” I said to her, my breath heavy.

“There’ll be no need for that,” she said with confidence. “I’ve just figured out what’s going on between you two.”
