It didn’t matter the distance I had covered when trying to get away from Max. I couldn’t stop thinking about someone possibly following me even though I hadn’t picked up on any unfamiliar scents for a long time.

The only scent I knew was that of Max on my body, but I knew he wasn’t after me.

It was only when I made it to Red Valley that I stopped on top of a hill, bending forward and placing my hands on my knees with a sigh of relief.

After catching my breath, I straightened up, a hand on my chest while looking around. There was no safer place than that home, at least that was what I told myself.

I once again reminded myself that no one had followed me, yet just couldn’t completely get that out of my mind.

Slowly, I began to make my way down the hill, choosing that over all the other ways I could get down. It was so I could clear my head before I would get to my parents’ house.

No longer focused on the danger, everything else that happened with Max in the woods came back to me. I bit my lip at the way he touched me and how I wanted him so badly that I had my hands all over his back.

I dropped my head to the side as I touched the back of my neck the intensely arousing moment when I sensed Koa making me growl softly. I couldn’t help but wonder how far it would’ve gone had I not pushed him away.

The rock hard feeling of him rubbing against my inner thigh has only made the sensation between my legs much warmer.

I bit my lip again at the image of him breathing hard, a little sweaty and that bulge I set my eyes on when I put a stop to that passionate moment.

Despite how paranoid I was, I knew that if I could turn back time, I wouldn’t have done anything differently…because to me. that was perfect.

It brought me some comfort, holding onto the fact that he didn’t force me into anything and gave me free will. Could I completely trust him?

I began to run into a few of our neighbours and I told myself to stop thinking about Max and I on that tree. The last thing I wanted was to make it obvious to anyone with my facial expressions just how turned on I was.

No matter how close I got to the house, I couldn’t sense Dylan of Cole at home with our parents, which made it even better as I thought it was best for them to find out afterwards.

I began to think about all the possible outcomes after telling my parents and it all left me in distress, but I told myself to play it cool.

With only a few feet before I was in the yard, they both came outside, paused as they shared a look of confusion, then made their way to me. I wondered what that was about.

I only needed some comfort at that moment, so I rushed to the and positioned myself right in the middle for a hug

“Sweetie, what’s wrong?” my mother asked, her voice gentle.

All I wanted at that moment was to feel their embrace and that spoken protection.

Grunting in frustration, I said, “Mom, Dad, something happened and I just…I’m so confused.”

“Everything will be alright,” he assured me.

They both tried to comfort me without still knowing what was going on and while it made me feel better. I also felt awful How could I go from being turned on to being frustrated?

“Sweetie,” my mother said, sitting beside me on the couch, with my father on the other side. To be honest, we thought you

came with someone”

“Why would you think that?”

“It’s because of the other scent on you.”

I raised my eyebrows in surprise, wondering just how strong Max’s scent on me was.

“How did it even end up on you?” My father asked.

“It was during training,” I said. I knew that they would catch on to my lie, so I instantly rose to my feet. “Can you please give me a moment? I’ll be right back.”

“Is everything alright?” my mother asked.

“Yeah. I just need to use the bathroom.”

Without waiting for them to say a word. I hurried up the stairs to my old bedroom, closing the door behind me and shutting my eyes.

I then sighed, sniffing myself like I didn’t already know that Maxs scent had rubbed off on me.

Even though I mentioned the bathroom to get away from my parents. I still wanted to use it, so I went in. When I pulled down my jeans and underwear, my jaw dropped with a gasp. It was at that moment that I realized just how wet I was. It felt like the whole world knew, leaving me embarrassed.

I took a few minutes in the bathroom, washed up at the end and returned to the living room with a fake smile.

They both had their arms crossed, as if impatiently waiting for me.

My mother patted the space in the middle of the couch, right where I was before and I joined them again.

They knew me so well that despite my fake smile, it was obvious that something bothered me and for a start, they offered me something to eat, but I wasn’t in the mood for any of that. I just had things to get off my chest.

“Dylan and Cole returned not too long ago and are with the warriors of our pack,” my father said. “I’ll inform them that Addi-

There’s no need for that.” I said to him.

“Right, you were with them not too long ago.”

“Exactly,” I nodded in agreement.

The only reason I didn’t want them home was so they wouldn’t hear it the first time. I didn’t know how they were going to take it, especially Cole.

Silence filled the air and it was obvious that my parents were waiting for me to speak, but it took a while, so they gently held onto my hands.

“Whatever it is that you have to say, take your time. We can wait my mother assured me

Firmly shaking my head, I said, “No. You’ve waited long enough and things need to change. You need to know the truth.”

“What’s going on?” they asked in unison.

I sighed. “Where do I even start? This has something to do with pha Warwick.”

My father clenched his jaw, pulling back his hand from mine. “Why would you bring him up?”

“This is exactly what I imagined was going to happen, but you still need to hear this. His son, the Lycan Prince, Max …”

“What about him?” He narrowed his eyes, wondering where I was going with what I had to say.

“The thing is… I have a unique kind of connection with him.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” He raised his voice a little and flinched.

My mother gestured to him to calm down using her other hand, then gently squeezed mine.

“Go on, honey. Please tell us everything,” she said, also a little upset in her facial expressions but her voice was calm.

I took a deep breath, then started from the beginning.

I wasn’t even halfway through when my father got up from his seat and paced while strongly shaking his head in disapproval.

When I finished, he paused, clenching his fists. “How could Lyra hide this from us?”

“She wanted me to be the one to tell you.”

“And what about Nora? Does she know?”

“No, I wanted to start with you.”

“Fine.” He nodded a few times, as if coming to a decision. “You already said that you can still do this without the Lycan Prince. That’s what you’re going to do.”

“What? You don’t understand. It’s not that simple. It’ll take longer to achieve my goal and that could lead to me being out of control. It’ll only be a success if Max is involved…but that’s what cares me.”.

“You definitely should be scared. Max is Warrick’s son. Don’t fall for his lies. He’s obviously plotting something.”

“I…don’t really see it that way,” I defended Max.

He scoffed, holding onto my shoulders. “Don’t you understand at they see you as a threat and they’ll do anything to keep you under control? What if you’re already being hunted down?”

My father only seemed to echo my worst fears, making me lowe my head.

“That’s exactly what I was thinking about,” I said. “But you know what? There’s still a part of me that trusts Max even if his father is the Lycan King.”

“You can’t be serious right now. Just because he didn’t force you that makes it alright? Open your eyes. He already knows where would still have you right where he wants you. I’m not going to mate, that means we would become family with Warrick. I don’t

to anything and told you to think about it? Do you think find you. That’s why, even if you turned him down, he se you. If you were to accept becoming the Lycan Prince’s want that.”

I shook my head in disbelief and sighed in frustration. “Madge was the first one who encouraged me to join the Warrior Selection Competition. She said it was the perfect way for me to and a balance so Saga wouldn’t fully take control. Was there any truth in that?”

“Of course, sweetie,” my mother replied, placing her hand on my back. “But that was just for a start. We thought you weren’t ready. I’m sorry we kept the bigger picture from you despite knowing what the Moon Goddess actually had planned for you. It must be so upsetting learning something different each time regarding what you’re truly capable of.”

“I feel so confused and frustrated. Is there anything else I need to know?”

“No. That’s everything. We just didn’t want to scare you and we would’ve never imagined that the seal would respond to someone from Warrick’s family.”

“Understand this,” my father began, grabbing my attention. “I don’t mind anything that has to do with your education, as long as there’s no direct link between you and Warrick, but this the complete opposite. I’m not going to put you in any kind of danger. I need to speak to Lyra and until then, we’re not discussing this any further.”
