With my bedroom window open, I stared outside and spotted Dylan and Cole making their way back home. They seemed pleasantly surprised that I was there, but I said nothing to them I was on the phone with Aunt Nora, sitting on my bed with my knees up to my chest.

“Addie, I still can’t believe you actually went to Red Valley without telling me. I was under the impression you would go back to training since you have something else coming up in the competition.”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t feel like going back there just yet because I had something to tell mom and dad.”

She sighed. “Yes, they just told me everything.”

I sat up more, raising my eyebrows in surprise. “They did?”

“Of course, and don’t feel bad that you told them first, they’re your parents.”

“That’s a relief because I was feeling that way. So, what do you think?”

“Let’s talk about this when I see you and it’s just the two of us, because they’ll hear everything.”

I nodded in agreement. “You’re right about that. So, I was wondering if-”

Suddenly, the loud banging on my door caught my attention, Making me cut the call short. I put the phone down, bracing myself as I knew what this was about.

Getting off the bed, I opened the door and Cole stormed in, followed by Dylan.

“What the hell did we just find out from Dad?” Cole asked, raising his voice a little.

“Can you please just calm down?”

He scoffed. “That’s the last thing you should be asking me after what I just learned!”

Dylan stood right behind him, placing his hand on his shoulder. You really need to calm down, and stop yelling.”

Cole chuckled bitterly, looking right at me, “Max? The Lycan Prince? This isn’t happening. I won’t let it. It’s already dangerous.”

“I know. That’s why I came to talk to mom and dad.”

He raised his eyebrows, looked back at Dylan and then back at me. “Really?”

I shook my head at both of them. “Let me guess, you didn’t ever let mom and dad finish telling you everything we discussed.”

“How could I? I was so mad when I found out.”

“Me too,” Dylan chimed in. “Whatever the case, the solution is sple. You’re just going to stay away from Max.”

“You guys don’t understand.”

“What are you talking about?” they asked in unison.

I rolled my eyes. “You really should’ve let mom and dad finish king before you barged in here.”

Cole sighed, his voice now gentle. “Look, that’s just how much w care about you. Since we’re already here, let’s hear it from you.”

“I can’t believe I have to go through this again. Anyway…”

They sat down and I began to tell them about it. While they seemed to understand it all, they were more for the option of staying away from Max.

“I know you two are only looking out for me and I appreciate that, but the only one who can make that decision is Lyra,” I said.

“Fine. Where is she?” Dylan asked.

“She told me she’d be here soon. She had something to take care of.”

“Okay, but how long is this going to take?” Cole grunted with frustration.

I scoffed. “Are you for real? I’m the one that should be impatient here. You just learned about this.”

“Addison is right,” Lyra said, suddenly appearing in front of us.

Cole’s lips curved into a smile as he looked at her from head to toe. “It’s always so badass when you arrive like that.”

“Hello to you too,” she said to him, her tone lacking enthusiasm.

He realized he was being too obvious when we told him to compose himself using the mind link, so he cleared his throat and said, “It’s a good thing you’re here. We all just want to get to the bottom of this.”

Lyra nodded in agreement. “We all need to talk and you need to hear this at the same time. Meet me in the living room.”

She vanished, making my brothers chuckle as they got off the bed. They were always so impressed by that.

“If only I could do that, I’d come and go as I please,” Cole said, then held out his hand towards me. “Let’s go.”

I reached for it after I got off the bed. I was right in the middle and they each placed a hand on my shoulders. I was glad they could understand my feelings.

When we got to the living room, Lyra was already in her seat, facing my parents who were on the other side. My brothers kept me close, the three of us sitting together.

“Now that we’re all here,” she began, then paused for a moment. Actually, not everyone is here. Just a second.”

Before we could understand what she meant, she snapped a finger and vanished, then reappeared with Aunt Nora next to her.

“Young lady!” Aunt Nora scolded her, her eyes wide in shock. “How could you just bring me here like that?”

“Sorry, but this couldn’t wait,” Lyra said. “It’s an important discussion and as Addison’s aunt, you deserve to be here.”

“Oh, when you put it like that, I’m honored to be here.” She sighed, taking a deep breath to calm down.

Lyra’s voice then turned authoritative, looking around the roon as she said, “I know that everyone’s worried about Addison. She’s also scared and confused, mainly because it’s Max, the Lyn King’s son, but that shouldn’t worry you at all. I’ve been guiding her throughout this journey and have I ever let you down at any point? My mother tasked me with this and I don’t intend to let anything go wrong. Since you all value what I have say, it’s absolutely necessary that she works with Max.”

My father let out a low growl of disapproval. “And here I was, thinking there was another way.”

“There’s definitely another way, but you already know it. Addison can do it alone, but after assessing her in the past week, it’ll

take at least ten years.”

“I’m fine with that, as long as my daughter doesn’t associate with that family. We can just be prepared when that time comes in at least ten years.”

“That’s such a risk, considering just how powerful Saga grows each day. No one can deny the force between Max and Addison. I had to create this bracelet on her wrist just so they could be near each other. It doesn’t end with her learning to manipulate the elements. The biggest hurdle is a successful shift One thing I’m certain of is that she’ll get extremely violent and the only way to minimize the attack is through Koa. While this is my opinion, the final decision isn’t mine to make.”

They all instantly turned their heads in my direction, making my eyes grow wide.

“Why is everyone looking at me?”

“Well?” they said in unison.

I huffed. “I haven’t yet made a decision.”

“So, that means you’re considering it?” My father firmly shook his head.

“Can I please ask that no one pressures Addison?” Lyra said. “Shes one with Saga and is the only one who knows what it feels like to possess such a powerful wolf that can wreak havoc if allowed to take full control. Whatever decision she makes in the end, we’re all going to respect it.”

For someone so mean at times, Lyra made me feel at ease in making a final decision. I was certain that had it been anyone else who wasn’t part of Alpha Warrick’s family, they all would have been more accepting.

“Addison,” my father said. “My reasons for not wanting you to associate with Max are justified, but you’re more important than any of that. That’s why no matter how I feel about all this, the final decision still rests in your hands.”
