Lyra had taken Aunt Nora back home in Raven Mist and as for te. I had requested her to leave me in the woods, not too far from the Academy of Warriors.
It was just up ahead, but I slowed down and took a seat, wondering if I should call Max or not. I had been thinking about it since I left my parents’ house, but the part of me that felt it was oo soon, got in the way.
Finally giving in to what I truly desired at that moment, I took out my phone and dialed his number. It didn’t even ring for three seconds and he picked up.
“Addison?” he said from the other end of the line.
“Yup, that’s me.”
“This is quite a pleasant surprise. I didn’t think I’d hear from you so soon after what happened yesterday.”
1 froze, words escaping me for a moment as I realized I mainly called him just to hear his voice, but I couldn’t tell him that.
Thinking fast, I said, “I spoke to my family about everything.”
“What did they say?”
“They were against it, but Lyra stepped in and they seemed to understand. That’s why the final decision is up to me.”
“I’m guessing you haven’t yet decided.”
“No, but I know the risks in both cases. I just want you to know that I trust you.”
He chuckled. “I’m glad you do. I actually told Tyler about it and he doesn’t like it all.”
“Why?” I furrowed my eyebrows. That was the last thing I expected to hear.
“Right, there’s something I still haven’t told you about him. Ever since I told him how you spoke about our father the day you learned we were the lycan princes, he’s not so fond of you anymore.”
I rolled my eyes. “Like I care.”
He chuckled. “I’m not surprised but you know what? I’m just glad we’re talking.”
My lips curved into a smile. “Me too.”
“During that moment in the woods….when we…”
“Yeah?” I cleared my throat, glad he didn’t openly mention it.
“I sensed Saga.”
My eyes lit up. “And I sensed Koa.”
The other end of the line fell silent for a few seconds, and then
chuckled, making me follow suit. The mutual sensation
only made me believe in Lyra’s words even more, but I still needed time.
As I returned to the Academy of Warriors, I spotted Drina, having a chat with some other girls of a similar towering build

like hers.
She waved at me, then gestured for me to go over to her.

I wasn’t in a hurry to get to my room, so I approached her and she actually excused herself from the others so we could meet halfway.
“There’s the champion.” she said, towering over me.
“Don’t call me that just yet.” I firmly shook my head at the compliment.
“I can’t help it when you’re that good. Are you ready for the next round?”
“I’m always ready.”
“Good luck to you. Just make sure you don’t let your guard down The advancement comes with so many surprises.”
“Drina!” one of the girls called out to her with excitement.
“I have to go now. I’ll see you out there,” she said, making her way back to them.
As I faced the other way to get to my room, I overheard their conversation even as they whispered.
“The Lycan Prince, Tyler, is on his way here!”
They all went on to swoon over him and I rolled my eyes.
My conversation with Max about how Tyler now felt about me made me not care about his visit to the academy. It was obvious to me that he completely sided with his father.
As I wondered what he would be like if I were to run into him, I was getting closer to my shared room, but I paused for a moment when I picked up Phoebe and Sally’s scents inside, including two other unfamiliar scents. I came to the conclusion that those must have been some friends of theirs.
When I pushed the door open and walked in, I raised my eyebrows in surprise, the two strangers on Ruby’s side of the room, packing all her stuff.
“Addison, you’re finally here,” Phoebe said. “You won’t believe what’s going:”
“Ruby’s been banned from the competition,” I said.
They both gasped, glancing at each other with wide eyes and then at me.
“How did you know?” they asked in unison.
“Her father personally informed me.”
They sighed with disappointment. It seemed they wanted to be the ones to tell me as the news hadn’t yet spread.
“To be honest,” Sally began, grabbing my attention. “I’m glad she was banned after what she did to you.”
Phoebe nodded in agreement. “It’s crazy that it took so long for his to happen.”
“Are you two being serious right now?” I poked my check. “Now hat she’s gone, you want to act like you weren’t on her side?
I can’t even count how many times you showered her with compliments. I don’t need your sympathy.”
They pressed their lips together, lowering their heads in shame,
“That aside, we need to regroup with the other two guys since were one member short.”

They nodded in agreement, unable to raise their heads just yet.

It took a few minutes to reach the others but when we did, we met up for a discussion. No one seemed worried that we no longer had Ruby on the team. We were going to be just fine without her.
When our brief discussion came to an end, we walked together a team before going our separate ways. I then stopped in my tracks, the sudden action making everyone wonder what was going on with me.
I cleared my throat, pretending to dust my shoe to seem convincing that it was what made me stop when in reality, I sensed Tyler, making his way to the academy and he wasn’t alone, but Iouldn’t even say that since he was still too far away for the others to tell. Though I was an Alpha’s daughter, my senses were unlike anything else with the powers I possessed. I became so cautious that I didn’t want to raise any suspicion.
I could tell which direction he was coming from, making it easier for me to have a clear path when leaving the academy through another route. I just wanted to be alone and knew that being at the academy would bring me no peace with everyone swooning over him.
No matter the distance I covered while getting away from the academy, Tyler’s scent remained constant, unlike the others that had accompanied him. It was then that I suspected he was following me and just to test it out, I put on a sprint of speed, that being the moment his scent got even stronger.
Now certain that he was following me, I decided to stop running trying to catch my breath while pushing back my hair.
He stuck a landing in front of me, the ground cracking open from the impact. He straightened up, his aura completely different from what I was used to back at Blackbolt High.
“I’m guessing my brother told you,” he said to me.
“Yeah.” I nodded casually.
“And you must be so scared of me that you decided to run.”
I scoffed. “I’m standing right here, aren’t I?”
He clenched his jaw and glanced to the side, realizing I had a point.
“I was quite disappointed to hear what you said about my father
“Someone as heartless as he is, doesn’t deserve my respect.”
He roared, baring his fangs and claws. “Choose your next words carefully!”
“It’s not like I’m saying anything wrong. You can’t relate because you weren’t on the receiving end of the stick. He’s your father, not mine. I owe him no respect no matter who he is. He’s nothing but a-”
“Enough!” He furiously charged towards me at full speed.
Just as his claws got close enough to scrape my face, I raised my hands and the air around me rippled as it responded to my
