Chapter 55
Addison
Lyra’s words made me jump off the bed and I stopped right in front of her.
“I can really do that?”
She nodded. “Of course.”
“Wait, you’re not just saying this to make me feel better and get e motivated, right?” I suspiciously narrowed my eyes at
her.
“You’ve spent a lot of time with me. Do you know me as the type to sugarcoat anything?”
I took a step back, believing her. “Nope. If I can heal Jess, why wasn’t this ever brought up before? I thought we said no more secrets.”
“For certain secrets, I told your family that I would be the one to tell you while observing your progress.”
“Did you know?” I glanced at Aunt Nora and immediately knew he answer. “Judging by the lack of surprise, you did.”
“I’m sorry, Addie. We didn’t want you to know that just yet because you would’ve put pressure on yourself to make it happen as soon as possible.”
“Your aunt is right. I wasn’t even supposed to tell you now but with Saga’s presence barely felt, it had to be now. And that’s all the motivation that was needed because once again, I can feel her.”
I nodded in agreement, strongly feeling Saga again and I closed my eyes so I could connect with her.
“Saga?”
“That’s me!”
I chuckled. “You’re here.”
“I never left.”
“You kind of did.”
“I couldn’t help it, but now that I know there’s a way to fix everything, I’m ready for anything.”
I opened my eyes and right away, Lyra could see the determination in me.
“I see that you’re ready now,” she said.
“I am, but I have one request.”
She narrowed her eyes in curiosity, just as Aunt Nora did, both wondering what my request would be.
It came as a shock to both of them when I mentioned it, especially Lyra.
“Are you sure about that?” they asked in unison.
“Yes, I am. For now, it’s the best thing to do, but first, I need to go home to my parents.”
Lyra nodded, holding my hand and vanishing with me.

When I blinked, I was in the living room back home in Red Valley and I shook my head in disbelief.
“Seriously? How could you just bring me here like this?”
She shrugged, pulling her hand away from mine. “You’re the one who said you wanted to speak to your parents first.”
“I really do, but not like this. I look like a mess. Also, we can’t just show up here unannounced. What if they were in the middle of something? This will always be my home, but can weot invade their private space like this next time?”
She rolled her eyes. “It’s not like they’re in the house right now, they’re in the backyard, making their way here now that they know you’ve arrived but hey, whatever you say. Call out to me when you’re ready to leave.”
I nodded watching her vanish in a blink of an eye.
At the same time, my mother opened the front door, pleased to ee me but a little surprised.
“Oh, my child.”
She held me close, kissing my forehead. My father stood right behind me, placing his hand on top of mine, which rested on my mother’s shoulder.
Neither of them wanted to mention the incident with Jess during my match, but they didn’t have to, because I brought it up myself after we sat down.
I also detailed the incident at the steakhouse and how I ran off into the woods out of guilt.
“Max was the only one who was able to find me. He sensed the pain I was going through.”
My father scowled, looking to the other side. “Did you really have to bring up Warrick’s son?”
I still had more to say, like how Max made me feel at ease, but my father stormed out of the living room.
Now left alone with my mother, I told myself I wouldn’t talk about it anymore, but she held my hand.
“Your brothers mentioned how Max wouldn’t stop looking at you right after your defeat. Whatever you had to say about him just now, go on, dear.”
My face brightened up a little because my mother was willing to listen, but.I left out the part where he took me to his
apartment.
Even after all I had said, she just smiled at me. “It’s just as we discussed, the final decision is still up to you.”
“Thanks.”
“Now, about Jess, did she mention anything about her parents?”
“I didn’t get to ask. Haven’t you been in touch with them?”
“It’s been a while. If she has such feelings towards you, it can’t be any different for her parents even though they never openly said it, but everything’s going to be alright.”
I stretched my neck a few times, feeling motivated. “I’ll get right o it. I just need to change.”
With her hand on my shoulder, Lyra and I appeared right on top of a mountain cliff, the violent wind blowing our hair in all
directions.
According to her, this was the perfect training spot if I wanted to challenge myself.

“That’s quite the view down there!” I yelled, slightly leaning over to look at how far down and pitch black it was.
“Quite the view of nothing.” she added.
It took me a few seconds but I finally stepped away and when I turned around, she had her arms crossed, the look on her face like she was judging me.
“What?” I shrugged.
“About you and Max.”
I cleared my throat and looked away. “Yeah? What about us?”
“That moment you shared in the kitchen was-”
“Look, I know that nothing can be hidden from you because you and I are linked. I even had a strong guess that you knew about it, but were you watching us?”
She rolled her eyes. “Please, I had better things to do at that moment, but I was still aware of what exactly you were doing.”
I nodded with a sigh of defeat. “It shouldn’t even have happened anyway. It was a mistake.”
She scoffed, getting closer to me. “Was it? I know you loved it and wanted more, but you stopped yourself because you were reminded that it wouldn’t change anything with Jess. It’s okay to be selfish sometimes.”
“You make it sound like I can just snap my fingers and I won’t have a conscience.”
“You shouldn’t even feel so awful anymore because now, you know what you have to do to help her.”
Her reminder made me feel at ease. “I really can’t wait for that day. And I have to talk to her about this, but for now, that will have to wait.”
“As of this moment, you need to really challenge yourself. You can definitely do great things, but they won’t come easily.”
“I’ll give it all I have.”
She suddenly chuckled, making me narrow my eyes.
“Did I say something funny?”
She cleared her throat. “Not at all. By looking into your mind, I’ve just found out that you’re leaning towards a certain decision with Max and I’m glad it’s not because you two almost fucked in that kitchen. The bond that you and Max share is unique. He could sense your pain from a distance and was able to make you feel at ease.”
I could only smile.
“Now, if you want to be as great as you claim, I said you need to challenge yourself and for a start, here you go.”
“What?”
She waved her hand, pushing me off the cliff and I fell, screaming at the top of my lungs in fear.
For a second, all I could think about was Max coming to my rese at that moment like he did in the woods, but I quickly realized no one needed to come to my rescue because I was capable of doing it all on my own. I positioned myself upright as I continued to fall, my mind clearer than ever about what I wanted, but at what cost?
