Mysterious mate to the lycan prince (Addison and Max) novel Chapter 56

Chapter 56

Max

Tyler and Jess met up every day of the week and it became a little annoying hearing him talk about her all the time whenever he would return to the palace.

It was only because I was envious that he got to spend so much an entire week, she hadn’t called or texted back. Our last mome

about it.

me with her and I had nothing going on with Addison. For was in that kitchen and not once did I ever stop thinking

I went to the Academy of warriors every day, hoping to at least pick up her scent but there was no sign of her.

The other girls who saw me each time I showed up did all they could to grab my attention, but I never let it get past a greeting of acknowledging my status as a lycan prince. I only wished to set my eyes on Addison, but not once did it ever happen.

After another unsuccessful day of not being able to see her, I was about to leave when two familiar faces came from the opposite direction, Addison’s brothers. I thought that if they were at the academy, Addison had to be close.

I was a lycan prince and had authority over everyone in the kingom, but as the two of them walked past me, they only glanced at me and with stone cold faces and looked away, the first not to acknowledge me and I wasn’t about to let them get away with it.

I dashed in front of them to block the way and they had no choice but to stop in their tracks.

“Where are your manners?” I growled.

They glanced at each other, then back at me.

“Since we’re not exactly part of this kingdom, we owe you nothing,” Cole said.

They knew all about our fathers’ history and I sensed that being the main reason they held their heads high, when everyone else did the opposite.

“You might want to tone down on your attitudes before you regret it.” I snarled, baring my claws and fangs as I grew larger but held on a little longer before the shift.

They both took a step back and looked around, now a little uncomfortable.

Onlookers began to whisper, criticizing the two brothers for so much disrespect.

By the way they went silent, they spoke to each other with the mind link but even if they planned to get away, I wasn’t going to let it happen.

It was clear that they still wanted to stand tall against me, but their body language showed hesitation.

“Is everything alright here?” Jefferey said as he joined me, standing right beside me but looking smaller in size.

“Why don’t you ask these two?”

“Boys?” he said to them and waited, but neither of them wanted to speak up.

you are!” Aunt Nora said from a distance while behind them, rushing over with a forced smile. She already knew what was going on.

Just as she got closer, I could hear Jeffrey’s heart race while looking at her. He even smiled just a little but soon composed

himself.

She didn’t even hide her cold feelings towards him when she stood right in the middle of Dylan and Cole, shooting him a glare before facing me.

“Forgive my nephews for their behavior here.”

She bowed to me and as soon as she did, they followed suit with lenched fists and jaws. She must have given them quite the scolding using the mind link.

For as long as I wasn’t going to say the word, none of them would be upright and I wanted to do that so badly, but I changed my mind because of Aunt Nora.

“Rise.”

“Thank you,” she said, the other two still clenching their jaws.

That was the perfect opportunity for me to ask about Addison, but I chose not to do it.

“What brings you here?” Jeffrey asked Aunt Nora, his voice the softest it had ever been from the time I had known him.

She poked her cheek, held onto Dylan and Cole as she harshly said, “That’s none of your business. Boys, let’s go.”

Even as they walked away, I couldn’t stop looking at her, wondering why she spoke to him with that tone. I might have been a lycan prince, but it wasn’t my style to find out everyone’s business.

“Are you alright, My Prince?” Jeffrey

“You’re dismissed.”

He nodded, leaving me alone.

I closed my eyes, frustrated that I chose not to ask about Addiost

There was nothing left for me at the academy, so I made my way back to the palace, only to find Tyler and just as he had done for an entire week, he told me all about his time spent with Jess after joining me in the backyard. Anything we didn’t want anyone to hear, we always used the mindlink.

“You know, everytime you talk about her, you make it sound like she’s the sweetest girl you’ve ever met when she’s not,” I said to him.

“To me, she’s very sweet. It doesn’t matter what she said to Addison when they met at the steakhouse. Neither of us know the full weight of what Jess has gone through. Wouldn’t you act the same way?”

I sighed. “Maybe.”

“Today, she finally opened up about what happened to her and even showed me the damage that was done to her body. It’s awful.”

“Did you tell her about how we know Addison?”

“Come on. Why would I do that? I didn’t want to upset her. Imagine me telling her that Addison and I are friends and you and her have a thing going on. The time just wasn’t right.”

“I never thought I’d say this, but you’re maturing and just in time for your birthday.”

He scoffed. “Shut up. I can see that look of disappointment right now, the one you’ve had all week whenever you’ve returned home with no knowledge about Addison.”

“Today was just like other days, but I saw her brothers. They wanted to stand tall against me by not acknowledging me. It was their Aunt Nora who finally made them do as expected.”

“That’s the ending I was hoping for. Otherwise, I would’ve tracked them down and-”

“Hey, easy. I really wanted to ask about Addison, but when she’s ready, she’ll reach out to me. She probably still needs time away from me after what happened.”

“In the kitchen?” He teased me.

“Shut up. How about you just focus on Jess? Do you plan on telling our parents about her?”

He frowned. “Not anytime soon. You know how our father is.”

Just as I was about to assure him that everything would work out an incoming call from Addison made me swiftly sit up. shocking even Tyler.

“Well, look who decided to finally get in touch with me.”

She chuckled. “Hey, can we talk in person tomorrow? I actually would have preferred right now but I can’t just make you-”

“I’m on my way right now. Where will I find you?”

I didn’t want to waste even a second. I wanted to see her as soon as possible.

Rushing to our usual meeting spot, I got there quickly but she was already there, making me slow down in my tracks to keep some distance between us. I didn’t know if she wanted me to get closer, but her heart was racing.

When she stepped forward, shortening the distance between us reached for her and with my arms around her waist, I tightly held her against my chest.

She giggled, wrapping her arms around my neck.

“I was going crazy not hearing from you.” I shut my eyes with reef. “Where were you?”

“Far away and I’ll tell you about it, right after I tell you something else.”

I pulled back a little so I could look down at her gorgeous face while still holding her.

“What could be more important than finding out where you’ve been and what you’ve been up to?”

“While I was away, I had a lot of time to think about us…” She trailed off, taking a few steps back.

“And?” I asked, holding my breath.
