Chapter 61
Max
Addison dropped her hand and lowered her head in defeat, closing her eyes and searching in her mind for Saga, but there was nothing.
I was already disappointed, but nothing could compare to seeing her so defeated. She knew that she was the only one who stood in the way.
Frustrated, she squeezed the bracelet in her hand and ran off in the woods so she could be alone, leaving me with Lyra, who rubbed her temples with a heavy sigh.
“If there’s one person she needs right now, it’s you,” Lyra said.
Part of me wanted to give Addison space, but I also wanted to be there for her and I chose the latter.
Still in my lycan form, I tracked her down and it didn’t take long to find her since she hadn’t gone too far.
She sat by a tree, hugging herself with her head resting on top of her knees as she burst into tears.
She knew I was there but it took a while for her to raise her head
When she finally did, she wiped her tears and said, “I’m sorry. This is all my fault. What happened with Jess just really got to me and I ruined this. I’ve called out to Saga but she doesn’t even respond. I can’t even manipulate air right now. I’ve lost it all.”
I wasn’t about to let her carry on like that so I moved closer, rubbing my fur against her face and she chuckled a little while holding onto my foreleg with both hands.
For as long as she needed me, I wasn’t going to move from that spot while she held onto me. It took a while but slowly, I could sense Saga again.
Then, Addison looked down at her bracelet as she put it back on and said, “Let’s try again.”
We found Lyra right where we left her and she sighed with relief looking concerned about Addison.
The two of us got back in the circle, repeating the process from Before and as soon as she took off the bracelet, she began to growl and snarl while being so close to me.
“Yes! There it is?” Lyra said. “It seems that she doesn’t want to ge closer and make contact with you. Hold her down.”
With my foreleg, I pinned her down and she roared, desperately trying to get away from me. It hurt me seeing her that way, but Lyra insisted that this was necessary. It went on for longer than I would have wanted.
Just when I wanted to put a stop to it, Addison tightly gripped the fur on one side of my face. That was the first time that I ever saw her try to fight through it despite how aggressive she was.
Her roars and snarls slowly got quieter until finally, I could feel myself gaining access to her mind as she let me in. That was it. We were linked and for the first time, I saw Saga, beautiful but still aggressive.
“Saga,” Koa’s voice called out to her. “It’s time for you to calm down. You’re okay. I’m here.”
As soon as the words reached her, she began to calm down. It was strange being inside her mind, but every second was worth it. Saga listened and began to calm down.
I suddenly lost access to her mind when she passed out, only for her to open her eyes a few seconds later.

She looked up at me and smiled, gently running her hands all over the parts she could reach.
“I could feel you deeply inside of me,” she said.
“You might want to rephrase that,” Lyra chimed in.
Addison chuckled, wrapping her arm around my foreleg after she rose to her feet.
We were now deeply connected and I could feel everything about her as she did with me.
While she continued holding on to me, I shifted back in human form and feeling the bare skin on my back, she gasped and let go, turning around and moving away so she wouldn’t stare at my lower half.
Lyra snapped her fingers and I was back in my clothes, like nothing had happened to them.
“Thanks,” I said to her.
She nodded. “I’ll give you two a moment and while you’re at it, how about you use that mindlink you now share? And Max, don’t worry, I still have no access to your mind even when Addison’s talking to you.”
And with that, she vanished.
While Addison still looked away from me, I grabbed her hand and pulled her towards me. She was facing me by the time she was right against my chest and giggled.
I placed my hands on the sides of her face, gently kissing her on the lips. Everything felt right and the need to take her right there was only more intense now that I could feel every single thing about her and she was mine.
As we pulled away from each other’s lips, I smirked and let my thoughts do the talking.
“Want to try out the mindlink?” I asked.
She rolled her eyes, responding without parting her lips. “Very funny. Thank you for coming after me after I ran off.”
Resting my hands around her waist, I said, “It was definitely worth it. Your wolf is breathtaking and all mine.”
“Thanks and so is yours. I look forward to the day I can shift.”
“We’re now on our way to getting you there. So… when do we make this announcement?”
“After your brother’s birthday.”
“You read my mind.” I kissed her forehead.
She chuckled but I turned serious as I realized something and she did, too. Everything felt so perfect at that moment, but what was to come wasn’t going to be easy. I only hoped it wouldn’t break us apart.
