Mysterious mate to the lycan prince (Addison and Max) novel Chapter 62

Chapter 62

Addison

Tyler’s birthday party was just about to begin at a newly constructed luxurious hotel and I was a few minutes to the entrance.

I could already spot the luxurious cars of some of the invited gusts but it didn’t even make me feel out of place.

Even my dress was nothing too fancy and Lyra had offered to create one for me, but I didn’t want to show up in something that didn’t belong to me. I just looked through my outfits and picked out what I could.

As I approached the stairs, I came across some invited guests who hadn’t made it inside and they kept looking at me while smiling.

I couldn’t figure out why that was happening at first but I soon realized it was because I already had a smile on my face. Max was inside the hotel, waiting for me and he kept telling me how excited he was to see me. We did all this while using the mind link and it was the best thing that had ever happened to us

“Does your family know that you’re coming to my brother’s birthday party?”

“Only Aunt Nora knows. It wasn’t easy to convince her because she wondered why I was an invited guest to something so special. I thought about telling my brothers but changed my mind. Your previous incident with them is still fresh on their minds and they don’t like you.”

“But it’s not my birthday.”

“You’re Tyler’s older brother.”

“You’re right about that. How much longer do I have to wait before I can lay my eyes on you? Get inside already.”

I chuckled out loud, grabbing the attention of one of the invited guests who hadn’t yet made it inside.

He blocked the way as he smiled at me and began to introduce himself, immediately flirting with me but I did my best to cut him off.

It was a mistake to tell Max about it as he got a little jealous and just wanted to come outside and break his legs.

Ever since we bonded, he had been very possessive of me and it was the same for me.

The guy in front of me still kept talking to me despite my efforts to get away. What came to the rescue was a phone call from Gina and I rummaged through my purse to take out my phone.

I didn’t even pick up as I walked away but made it seem like I would.

I looked down at the screen and rolled my eyes. Ever since she had raised her voice and hung up on me, I hadn’t texted or called her back.

She must have finally wanted to reach out to me but that wasn’t the time, so I let it ring until it stopped.

I finally made it past the royal guards by the stairs and many guests inside were mostly daughters and sons of alphas, betas and warriors. I had already been informed of that, but seeing it with my own eyes only made me wonder if this was Tyler’s idea of a small party.

“Babe, you’re effortlessly breathtaking,” Max said in my head.

“Where are you?” I looked around.

“Up here, on your left.”

I looked up at the second floor and there he was, dressed in his royal attire and as handsome as ever.

His compliments kept coming even after he looked away and everyone walking past me kept wondering what was going on with me. I couldn’t stop blushing but I was just alone.

“If only I could get as close as I want. Before this party ends, I will”

I clutched my purse, his suggestive tone making me anticipate that moment.

The music was loud with so much dancing and I found myself a seat, feeling out of place because I didn’t know too many people.

Everyone was also trying to act like they were superior.

There were so many overlapping voices that it was hard to focus on a single conversation, but I recognized Ruby’s annoying laugh and when I spotted her, she was walking up to Max, pushing past those in her way.

It didn’t come as a surprise that she carried herself that way as her father was the head of security for that birthday party.

The others surrounding Max seemed to want to speak to her because of her beauty, but he was the only one who barely said a word to her.

“Hey, you’re Addison Hunter,” an unfamiliar voice said to me.

Curious, I looked to my right and there were two guys looking down at me.

“Yes, I am,” I politely replied.

“You’ve been quite impressive in the Warrior Selection Competition. Olivia is our cousin. She mentioned that you’d fight her one on one and we look forward to it.”

“What? She told you that?” I chuckled, pleasantly surprised.

“Knock it off, you two.” Olivia chimed in from behind me.

She smiled at me and nodded, holding onto their hands and taking them away while apologizing to me.

I couldn’t peel my eyes away from them as it seemed that she was scolding.both of them.

It was only when my phone began to ring that I looked away. It was a call from Tyler, making my lips curve into a smile.

He only wanted to show me where exactly he was. I looked over and spotted him with a few other girls, my smile fading when I saw Jess. She had her arms crossed and even rolled her eyes but unlike last time, I didn’t doubt myself while thinking about all the hope I had given her. I believed in myself. I was going to make it.

Max checked up on me with our mind link, but I assured him I was alright.

More guests began to recognize me from the competition and came to introduce themselves, giving me the opportunity to mingle with many.

They knew who my father was and admired him.

All the attention began to overwhelm me, so I excused myself to be alone.

I made my way to one of the balconies and looked at the night sky, still smiling at every word that came from Max.

Ever since we bonded, I could no longer feel Koa’s arrogance from before. He was only protective and possessive.

As Max and I discussed who we would tell first between his family and mine, I sensed Jess approaching me from behind and

didn’t even look back. All my other encounters with her made me uncomfortable as she always reminded me of how I ruined her life but moving forward, I wouldn’t let that get to me when I knew what I had to do to make things right..

“Good, you’re here,” she said as she stood next to me, her tone cold. “We need to talk.”

“What’s up?” My tone was calm, just like my mind.

“This birthday party is filled with alphas, betas and warriors. They all won’t stop talking about their accomplishments while I can’t even mention a single thing from the past few years. It makes me feel like shit. Quickly make things right.”

“Like I told you before, I’m going to do my best to-”

“That’s not good enough!” She got in my face. “You better hurry up before I do something worse.”

Taking a step back, I narrowed my eyes with worry. “Something worse? What did you do?”
