Jess left me a little bit paranoid with her warning and I waited in silence after asking her but he said nothing in response and only looked to the side, poking her cheek.

“I admit that after how I hurt you, your life changed and it’s been awful since then. I’m going to do my best to heal you as soon as possible, but what you won’t do is make me feel like shit every time we meet.”

Her heart began to race with her shoulders rising and falling rapidly. “That’s what I thought. You don’t feel awful about how you ruined my life.”

“I do, but I’m done taking this attitude from you. I’m focused on healing you and that’s it, so stop trying to make me feel like a monster.”

She clenched her jaw with heavy breathing, unable to find the right response.

Just then, a familiar voice said, “Girls, there you are! Aren’t we all here to celebrate my birthday? Why are you two out here? Is everything alright?”

Tyler stood real close, looking at my hand on Jess’s shoulder and her hand wrapped around my wrist.

He was only cheerful so he could break the tension between us.

I let go with ease and she massaged her wrist as she spoke to him

“Let’s go back inside.”

He didn’t even look at her as he shook his head and turned serious. “This needs to stop now. I’m saying this to both of you.”

Jess scoffed. “And here I thought you would take my side.”

“It’s not about taking sides, but focusing on what the end goal is. It involves both of you and I consider you very close. Not everyone gets that privilege. Enough of this.”

I nodded, smiling at both of them. “I’m not the problem here and you know it. Happy birthday.”

He chuckled. “Where’s my birthday present?”

“I just want to have you off the ground when we get some privacy”

Our conversation about it went on for longer than Jess could tolerate and she rolled her eyes and walked away.

I mouthed to him that he should go after her, and he nodded as he did.

I didn’t even bother to check on them as they went out of sight I wondered what she had done. If she was going to do something worse, it meant she had already done something bad

For as long as I could, I stood by the balcony, trying to figure it out, but I had no good guesses.

“Babe,” Max’s voice echoed in my mind.

“Yeah?”

“Top floor, Room 115, now.”

I instantly grew impatient, wanting to climb up the wall so I could get past the other floors faster. It was then that I realised just how much I wanted to be alone with my mate.

That would have only drawn attention to me as many would have seen me during the climb, so I settled for the normal way and my way back inside.

Along the corridor, I pressed my thighs together a few times as he told me all about what he wanted to do to me. We had been holding back for too long.

It was still Tyler’s birthday, but it turned out he was in support of this and I even got more confirmation when I walked past him while he was surrounded by his friends and he gave me a nod of approval.

I made my way to the elevator, which took me up to the top floor and it was empty and quiet, everyone downstairs at the party.

Only Max was up there and I could strongly sense him as I got closer to Room 115.

Placing my hand on the door knob, I slowly pushed the door open and gasped when he pulled me inside in one move.

He slammed the door shut and had me right against it, inhaling my scent with his body pressed against mine. We didn’t know how much time we had before someone would come up there, so we broke into a passionate kiss as he ran his hand down my thigh and lifted it halfway.

“They’re on their way here,” he said, his breath heavy.

I was the first to make my way back down and by the time I joined the party, he was already there, standing next to his brother. His way was faster as he jumped from the top floor all the way down.

There was so much distance between us, yet just a few minutes earlier, he was seconds away from being deep inside of me.

The more that I thought about, the more I realized it was such a risky move to do it right in that hotel. Anything was possible, but it turned me on even more knowing that we just couldn’t control the urge.

The arrival of the Lycan King and Luna was soon announced and everyone made way for them as they walked in, everyone bowing their heads to them.

She smiled a little, making her seem approachable, but she was still Warrick’s wife, who commanded so much authority even without saying a word. The atmosphere was filled with unspoken tension and it made me anxious as I imagined how it was all going to play out once he learned of who I was as a werewolf and in his son’s life.

Everyone gasped along with him, then cheered with a round of applause.

As soon as the Lycan King raised his hand, the whole room fell silent.

He held out his hand with a key and said, “Custom made and the first of its kind.”

Tyler reached for the key with furrowed eyebrows. “Thank you, but I don’t understand.”

With his hands behind his back, the Lycan King casually said, “You’ll understand when you check outside.”

Everyone began to wonder what was outside and waited until Tyler and Max led the way.

Tyler stepped outside with wide eyes at the sight of his father’s present, a brand new car that was custom made for him and there was nothing else in existence.

He smiled at his father with so much gratitude, but he only received a nod of acknowledgement and began to walk away with his Luna.

Everyone envied Tyler and kept their eyes on him but I only had my eyes on Max, who also had his eyes on me. Even just the look in his eyes added to the wet sensation in my underwear I even had to get away from the rest of the crowd just so I could calm down.

Suddenly, Ruby bumped into me on purpose while having a drink in her hand and said, “Watch it, bitch! You seem to be enjoying this party a little too much when you should be worried about what I’m going to do to you with what I know.”

I remembered that Lyra had said she cast a spell on Ruby, so she wouldn’t talk about it even if she tried and I wanted to test it out at that moment.
