Chapter 73: You Don’t Stand a Chance

Chapter 73: You Don’t Stand a Chance

Max

As my parents and I looked on while Tyler made his way to the stairs with Jess, she smiled nervously and whispered to him that she was nervous and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. What did she think this was?

When they were finally close enough, she bowed, keeping her head in that position.

“Rise,” my mother said.

“We meet again,” my father added, his tone lacking enthusiasm.

“Despite what Jess told you about Addison,” Tyler said, looking at our parents as he held her hand, “she’s still the girl I like and would want as my mate.:

Stepping forward, my father tilted his head as he looked at her from head to toe. “I remember that day like it was yesterday. When you walked up to me in the street while I was with my guards and you told me about Addiosn’s sealed wolf. I see my son likes you so much that he overlooked that part. If you can give me the answers I’m looking for, I’ll consider you as a mate for my son.”

“Hey,” Tyler said to me with the mindlink. “How is it that I get to go through something like this when you secretly became mates with Addison?”

“You don’t have my balls yet,” I replied. “If you did, you wouldn’t be here right now.”.

“Alright, Jess,” my father said in his authoritarian tone, snapping me back into that moment. “Can you shift?”

She chuckled nervously as she faced the ground. “Not anymore.”

“Can you fight?”

“No.”

“Do you have a strong sense of smell?”

“No.”

“Can you do anything?”

“No.”

“In short, you’re useless.”

“Yes.” Her voice trembled.

“What makes you think you’re worthy of being with a lycan prince? Just because of what you told me?”

“You see,” my mother chimed. “You possess nothing that would be of benefit to my son. Whatever hopes and dreams you had, forget about them. Now, leave.”

Jess swallowed hard, pulling her hand away from Tyler as tears trickled down her cheeks.

My mother roared at her as she told her a second time to leave, making her run off in the same direction she’d come from.

Tyler scowled, like he was about to say something to them and they waited, but he soon lowered his head in defeat.

They both casually turned around, making their way inside while talking about the winners of the competition.

My brother was so furious that he wasted no time and went after Jess. No matter how far she had gotten, he reached her in a few seconds and stopped her. I couldn’t bear to see him like that because he was my brother, so I followed him.

Just a few feet away from the palace, I found him holding her tightly as she cried on his shoulder, her body trembling as she sniffled.

She must’ve felt my presence as she quickly turned around to face me and wiped her tears.

“I’m sorry.” Her voice trembled with emotion. “This was a mistake I should have kept my mouth shut instead. I Successfully unlocked!

was just so furious that Addison was thriving and I wasn’t.”

Her apology was far from making up for everything and I wanted her to know that, but seeing my brother so disappointed made me hold back. I chose to keep quiet.

Then, my father’s voice echoed in my mind. “Stop wasting time out there. We’re waiting for you in the study. Bring the box.”

Right on command, I turned, using the mind link to inform Tyler that I had to go as I looked back at him. While still holding Jess in an embrace, he sighed, like he was worried about me. “This can’t be good. I can find a way to inform Addison or someone from her family.”

“No. I don’t want you getting involved in this.”

“But you’re my brother.”

“Exactly. I’ll find a way. Just get Jess out of here.”

I came to my bedroom and picked up the box, wishing there was a different way to do things.

Tightly holding it in my hand like that would change anything, I made my way to the study.

As I closed the door behind me, I looked across the room and at the table were my parents and Davina, her expression looking more sinister as the light from the fireplace cast a shadow on one side of her face. “Don’t keep us waiting, dear,” my mother said, her voice sweet like she was looking out for me.

I approached the table while glancing at the fireplace like I could hurl the box over there and let it burn, but I couldn’t. I even fought the urge to hand it over to my father, but it was in vain. He knew I’d do as expected.

As soon as that box was placed in his hand, I felt a release that made me sigh with relief. My task had been done, making the spell wear off.

He opened the box with a blank expression, furrowing his eyebrows as soon as he looked inside like he wasn’t satisfied.

“Is this all you could get?” He snarled, his eyes glowing red.

“You told me to get Addison’s hair and I did. You never told me how much of it you needed.”

I’d managed to pull out her hair a few times while I had her face shoved in the pillow and I was deep inside her from behind.

While he continued to express his disappointment, my mother moved closer so she could see for herself, looking at me while shaking her head.

“You know that you could’ve done better,” she said, her eyes narrowing at me.

Seeing their reactions made me feel like I was able to ruin whatever plans they had, but that was until Davina checked out the box and chuckled with satisfaction.

“it doesn’t matter how much hair he was able to get. I only need a strand at a time to make this work. We have five strands and that’s a lot. You’ve done well, My Prince.”

I clenched my fists as my breath got heavy, Koa growing angrier inside of me. He knew that whatever was going to happen to Addison, would happen to Saga.

Addison was now my mate and I wouldn’t have let anyone touch even a single strand from her beautiful head of hair, but I turned out to be the one to do that to her.

Davina placed a bowl on the table, emptied a bottle that contained a green substance, then added a strand of

Addison’s hair.

As soon as she began to chant, the hair strand dissolved and smoke began rising towards her face. Whatever was about to happen was only going to work to their advantage. I thought I could still stop it as I was no longer under a spell, but the moment I tried to sweep the bowl off the table to spill the substance to the floor, I couldn’t move my hands. I grunted as I fought to push through, but it felt like they were stuck on my

sides.

I tried to move in all directions, but found myself stuck in the same position. It felt like four walls had closed in on me, keeping me in place.

I looked over at my parents and they didn’t seem to care much. They were focused on Davina.

“We knew you’d try something like this,” my father said. “You’re not going anywhere. You’re going to watch Davina finish this. Why should you miss out when you’re the one who brought what we mainly needed? Did you think that just because you completed your task, that was it? Think again. We’re just getting started.”
