Mysterious mate to the lycan prince (Addison and Max) novel Chapter 75

Chapter 75: Linked

Chapter 75: Linked

Addison

Lyra and I were on the shore, the sea being my training spot for what I needed to do.

I should’ve made a lot of progress but I could barely focus on the technique I’d been working on as I still couldn’t get the moment I had shared with Max alone out of my head. Maybe it was the way our fingers intertwined as he thrust inside of me, or maybe it was the way he grabbed a handful of my hair and pinned me

down.

“I want more,” Saga said in my mind and I giggled, knowing exactly what she meant.

“Ugh, can you just stop?” Lyra said from behind me.

“What is it?” I turned around and looked down at her.

She leaned back, placing the palms of her hands in the sand. “Don’t play that game with me. You know that I know what’s on your mind right now.”

“You do?” I gasped dramatically. “Then why don’t you get out of my head.”

I thought she’d give me a silly clapback. Instead, she shook her head with disapproval as she impatiently tapped her bare feet in the sand.

“We don’t have time to be messing around.”

I forced a chuckle. “I’m not messing around. I just hadn’t seen him for two weeks and that moment was-”

“It just doesn’t matter, okay?” Her tone was a little harsh.

With a frown, I looked away, making her come over to the other side so she could face me again.

“Hey,” she said, getting closer. “I’m happy for you and all, but this needs to be done. Yes, you’re able to work with water now but you’re not that good yet or as good as I need you to be. There’s so much you could do with it and you know it. Don’t forget that I grow weaker because I’ve been keeping this cloaking spell up. We can’t even ask my mother to help because she has her hands full with cloaking the rest of your family. You can help us out by getting as good as you should be, so right now, just get him out of your head.”

I scoffed. “You just made it sound like he’s all I’m thinking about, but you know there’s a lot more on my mind. My mate has just taken center stage.”

“How could he not?” She rolled her eyes, getting back to her previous spot.

“I still can’t believe what Jess did to me,” I said while looking at the sea. “I wonder what Alpha Warrick was like to her when Tyler intro-”

“Can’t you just focus?”

She snapped at me with wide eyes, making me flinch.

“Damn. Fine, I will.”

She sighed, her voice turning softer. “Good.”

After levitating, I moved towards the sea, leaving Lyra on the shore behind me.

As long as the distance between the palm of my hand and the sea was short, I’d been able to make the water rise and just come in contact with my hand. But now, I had to take things to the next level, so I pushed myself higher, looking down at the sea below me.

What I had to do was create a water whip and make it rise until it came in contact with my hand. The first few tries were unsuccessful, making Lyra’s patience run thin. She wasn’t impressed even when I could feel myself getting closer.

“This isn’t going to work if you keep doing that,” she said, her tone slightly irritated. “You’d be getting it right much faster if you focused on control before force.”

I nodded with understanding, doing it again just as she had told me he was hard on me that day, but I couldn’ Successfully unlocked!

t even be mad about it. She’d been working hard for days to hide my location. It must’ve been getting to her.

Even after her advice, it took me a few tries to get it right and when I did, I created the water whip, which rose all the way to my wrist, looped around it, then settled into my hand like a ball without spilling back into the sea. “I finally did it!” I looked over at her with a smile.

She clapped as she got off the ground. “See? All you had to do was shut out Max and focus.”

I rolled my eyes. “Not that again.”

As I manipulated the water ball in my hand and transferred it to the other palm of my hand, she kept teasing me about Max and for a moment, everything was perfect as she’d now loosened up.

Suddenly, everything changed when an excruciating pain exploded behind my eyes and I scrunched up my face in discomfort.

I lost control of the water in my hand and it crashed back into the sea. I could feel myself falling fast and couldn’t regain control as the pain had taken over. It was Lyra who came to my rescue when she made me freeze just before my body plunged into the sea, bringing me back to the shore by guiding the air around me with her hands.

While she gave me a soft landing, it felt excruciatingly painful as I pressed my hands on the sides of my head. My vision blurred and it now felt like someone’s claws were right in my mind, digging deep.

“Hey!” Lyra held my hand to calm me down, but I constantly rolled forward and back like that would help take away my pain.

“What’s going on?” I cried out, my breath now becoming heavier.

Even though I had my eyes shut most of the time, I caught a glimpse of Lyra’s face and for the first time, she looked like she didn’t know what to do. She’d been using all her strength for that cloaking spell and now that she was weak, focusing on anything ese would only invite trouble.

“Fuck it!”

She closed her eyes to focus on that moment and I was actually worried about her as she began to bleed from her nose in just a few seconds.

Then, the pain suddenly stopped and I should’ve been relieved, but I heard an unmistakable voice, begging for

mercy.

“Aunt Nora.” The name painfully came out of me. It was the strangest thing ever, but even with my eyes open, I wasn’t by the shore anymore with Lyra on that sunny day. I was somewhere dark and could smell damp stone and old blood. I could also feel my hands chained above me and pulled tight, the force around my wrists so strong like it had been infused with magic.

I still couldn’t see my aunt’s face or anything, but not only did I feel her struggle to breathe, I could also taste blood in my mouth. It felt like I was inside her body and could feel everything that was going on with her. Where was she? Why was she in so much pain?

Then, she opened her eyes and I saw a lady standing right in front of me.

“Fuck!” I heard Lyra’s distant voice in my mind. “That’s Davina, the Lycan’s witch. She has your aunt and has used a spell to link you to her! Whatever’s about to happen to her, you’re going to feel it and I can’t sto-”

Davina snapped her fingers and Lyra was instantly shut out of my mind.

I didn’t even have the time to dwell on that as I was too focused on my aunt. No matter how I thought about it,

I couldn’t understand how she’d ended up there because she was supposed to be under the protection of the cloaking spell from Madge.

“Addie!” Aunt Nora cried out.

“I’m right here!” I said with a pang of desperation.

I could sense her emotions and she was terrified. I thought it was just because of the situation she was in, but

I became just as terrified for her when Davina stepped aside and I could see Warrick across the room.

Seeing him with that nonchalant expression fueled my rage, but all my emotions went numb when he stepped aside to reveal who was behind him. Max stepped forward, standing right in front of his father with a smirk like he wanted to be there. I didn’t want to believe it, but he was right there in the company of that monster. They both stepped forward to get real close, Max staring right into Aunt Nora’s eyes like he wanted me to see him clearly.

“Well done, son,” Warrick said, moving Max aside and getting his claws ready like he was about to use them on Aunt Nora. “Thanks to the hair you collected from Addison’s head, I’m going to wipe out this entire family.” That was the last thing I expected to hear and it felt like my heart had been ripped out. Max had betrayed me?
