No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 631

Noelle was standing below the stage. She felt much more at ease when she saw that Mia was fully composed, holding onto her microphone.

Just last night, Mia had cried over the banquet that day. But she managed to pull herself together.

Mia, too, felt less nervous after spotting Noelle in the audience. She had never once defied her family for as long as she lived and had always listened to everything Salena said.

She had thought that changing her boyfriend would have been a simple matter. She never expected to be scolded by Salena harshly just for suggesting it.

It was then that Mia finally realized that Salena was not as kind to her as she had always imagined. The moment she went against Salena's wishes, Salena's attitude changed drastically. Since that was the case, Mia decided that she would no longer remain as a puppet of Salena's.

The previously lively atmosphere of the banquet turned noticeably colder.

Everyone present knew that Donovan was marrying into the Cantrell family in a matrilocal arrangement, as Salena had just personally introduced him to everyone.

But they were all caught by surprise when Mia said that they were nothing more than good friends.

Salena's expression darkened. She turned to Mia and whispered, "What's with you?"

Mia just pretended to hear nothing and spoke up confidently into the microphone. "Thank you, everyone, for coming to my birthday banquet! I hope you enjoy the food and drinks that we've prepared!"

With that, she stepped down from the stage.

Salena immediately chased after her. "Stop right there!"

As she blocked Mia's way, she stared at Mia and said, "So you think you can just do whatever you want, huh? What's wrong with Donovan anyway? Haven't the two of you been getting along well?"

"I've already told you that I don't like him. You're the one that never listened to me!" Mia replied.

Salena was enraged. "Did Noelle say something to you? Why do you trust her so much instead of your own boyfriend, Donovan?"

"Aunt Salena, I can see for myself. And I also know that if we were to get married, he would be handling both the company's shares as well as the company's business. I refuse!"

Mia knew that all Salena ever wanted were the company's shares, and Donovan was merely a pawn that she was using to make her moves.

The price is only 1/4 of what others charge
