Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 624

The only difference was, Georgia, back then, had a touch of delicate vulnerability. Growing up in modest circumstances, she had learned to play the fragile card to win sympathy. In contrast, Irene had been raised in privilege, always the center of attention with people vying for her favor. Her demeanor naturally exuded grace and warmth.

Gazing at her daughter, who looked almost identical to her younger self, Georgia couldn't help but marvel at the mysterious bond of blood.

Even though she hadn’t seen her biological daughter in over twenty years, traces of herself were unmistakably reflected in the girl.

Was this the innate connection between mother and child?

Georgia pondered silently.

Irene had no idea what was running through Georgia’s mind. Having already labeled her as gullible and naive, she pressed on with her probing, flashing a sweet smile. "Auntie, you seem a bit distracted today. Has... something happened?" Then, as if catching herself, she quickly feigned embarrassment and added, "Sorry, Auntie, I didn’t mean to overstep."

How could Georgia suspect her own daughter of ulterior motives?

She immediately reassured her with a warm smile, "Oh, it's nothing. I know you’re just concerned about me." As she spoke, a comforting warmth spread through her heart.

Regret began to creep in.

If she had known Kendra would resent her so deeply for taking Ariana away all those years ago, perhaps she should have left things as they were.

Thinking of Ariana’s selfish, calculating nature—how she had ruthlessly pushed aside Jane, the sister she had grown up with, just to secure the White family’s inheritance—Georgia was overcome with remorse. She never should have abandoned little Irene. She was certain that even if she had told Gilbert the truth back then, he wouldn’t have been angry.

A kind and lovely girl like Irene, Gilbert would have adored her.

But Ariana...

That child had always been too cold and proud.

She's too much like her mother.

No matter how much effort she put in, it seemed impossible to straighten her out. The more Georgia dwelt on this thought, the deeper her regret grew.

But little did she know, after she responded to Irene's question, the disdain in Irene's eyes only intensified. With a faint glance, Irene continued, "Auntie... could you tell me what happened? If it's too private, that's fine too."

Georgia shook her head. "It's no secret. Why wouldn't I tell you?" And so, she poured out all of Ariana's misdeeds over the years, her voice thick with sorrow. "That child has such a ruthless streak. I don’t know where she gets it from... I’ve tried to guide her all these years, but she wouldn’t listen. She even grew resentful toward me—she didn’t set foot in the White family home for two whole years.

"I was terrified... terrified she’d disown me as her mother. So in the end, I had to give in."

As she spoke, tears rolled down her cheeks like pearls, her eyes brimming with a mother’s helplessness. "Now, seeing her grow more and more extreme, I just don’t know what to do anymore."

Irene: "..."

Honestly, Irene had only intended to fish for a little information from Georgia—she never expected to uncover so much.

After all, Georgia was Ariana’s birth mother.

Most mothers, no matter how flawed their daughters might be, would only vent minor grievances at most. The truly damning details would stay hidden. Yet here was Ariana’s mother, laying everything bare without hesitation.

Georgia’s brows instantly furrowed. "What do you mean? Has Ariana been giving you trouble?"

Irene bit her lip and stayed silent.

Georgia grew agitated.

She wanted to demand whether her daughter had truly been bullied by Ariana, but she couldn’t risk exposing her identity as her mother, and getting too worked up might arouse suspicion. So she clenched her fists, struggling to hold back.

Irene still didn’t answer. Instead, she gave Georgia a sorrowful look and murmured, bitterly, "It’s all in the past now."

Georgia’s fingers slowly curled into tight fists.

Seeing the hurt in her daughter's eyes, Georgia felt as if a knife were twisting in her heart. Without hesitation, she blurted out, "Irene... I... I don't even know what to say. I'm aware of what's happened between you and Ariana. The way Ariana is now—it's all my fault as her mother. She never should have come between you and Lambert in the first place."

Irene froze, stunned into silence.

Watching her daughter's bewildered expression, Georgia's heart ached even more. Throwing caution to the wind, she pressed on, "Marriage should only be between two people who love each other. I never approved when Ariana insisted on marrying Lambert, but I couldn't stop her. Now, looking back, I should have stood my ground."

Yes, if only she had stopped Ariana from marrying Lambert back then, her daughter wouldn’t be suffering like this now.

Why?

Why had she been forced to live in Kendra's shadow as a child, only for Kendra's daughter to steal her own flesh and blood's husband once they were grown?
