Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 690

Ariana lowered her lashes slightly.

Deep down, she thought Fanny was overthinking it.

She knew her mother all too well. Though she was in this state now, her mother definitely wasn’t the type to fuss over her out of maternal concern. More likely, there was something else at play.

And Ariana’s instincts proved right. The moment Georgia stepped inside and caught sight of her daughter, her eyes welled up instantly.

Fanny hesitated, wondering if she should excuse herself.

She didn’t want to intrude on their mother-daughter moment.

But speaking up now felt awkward, so she cleared her throat softly, biding her time to slip away at a more appropriate moment.

Yet that moment never came.

Tears shimmering in her eyes, Georgia looked straight at Ariana and cut straight to the point without hesitation. "Ariana..."

Ariana responded with a quiet, "Hmm."

Georgia bit her lip, her voice trembling slightly as she spoke. "Ariana, I know you’ve suffered unfairly in all this. It breaks my heart too. But Ariana, I truly believe Irene isn’t that kind of girl. She’s been accused by Lambert of arson and assault. Could you talk to Lambert and explain that this is all just a misunderstanding? I know you all have your doubts about Irene, but I swear on my life—she would never do something like this."

Standing off to the side, Fanny froze, her entire body stiffening in shock.

It took her a moment to process what she’d just heard.

Shouldn’t Auntie Georgia be comforting Ariana first, then showing concern for her granddaughter? Why was she pleading for the person who had hurt Ariana instead?

Having been abroad recently, Fanny wasn’t entirely caught up on the details of the situation.

She frowned as she watched the sorrow etched across Georgia's face.

Fanny was well aware that Ariana's mother had a reputation in their social circle for being kind and gentle. But she never expected the woman to be this kind—so kind it bordered on foolishness. Even if she believed Irene wasn't the culprit based on someone else's words, she shouldn't have immediately jumped to plead for leniency.

Ariana was still lying there, her body weak and recovering.

And her own granddaughter was still in the incubator. That shouldn’t have been the first thing out of her mouth.

In that instant, Fanny’s opinion of Ariana’s mother took a sharp dive.

Ariana gazed at her tearful mother, her lips twisting slightly before she replied with icy calm, "If she’s innocent, the police will find the evidence. Then she’ll be released."

Georgia stiffened.

She had expected Ariana to refuse—knew her daughter’s temperament well enough—but hearing the outright rejection still made her fingers clench involuntarily. A flicker of resentment flared in her chest. How could Ariana be so unforgiving?

When it came to their children, no mother would ever back down. Ariana was no exception. Her gaze turned glacial as she met Georgia's eyes, enunciating each word with icy precision: "I'll say it again. If she's innocent, the police will release her. Begging me changes nothing."

Seeing Ariana remained unmoved by both pleas and guilt trips, Georgia's frayed patience finally snapped.

She stared at Ariana in disbelief, a mix of anger and panic surging within her as she played her final trump card. "If you refuse," she said, her voice trembling, "then from this moment on, I no longer have a daughter like you."

A faint smile tugged at Ariana's lips, but her eyes remained icy and unfeeling.

"Fine by me," she replied coolly.

In an instant, Georgia's face turned as pale as paper.

Ariana met her mother's gaze steadily, her voice eerily calm. "Call me heartless if you want. Say whatever you like. But this time, I won’t let Irene get away with it—no matter what you say. You never cared about me growing up, and I learned to live with that. When I barely escaped death this time, you didn’t even ask how I was. Instead, you rushed to defend your other daughter, a murderer. And still, I didn’t care. But she crossed the line when she laid a finger on my child." Her voice hardened, a dangerous glint flashing in her eyes. "She hurt my baby, and I will make her pay for it."

Her tone turned frigid. "Do I make myself clear, *Ms. Ross*?"

An indescribable chill swept through Georgia’s entire body. She gaped at this stranger who was once her daughter, utterly speechless, as if something had lodged itself in her throat.

Five long minutes passed before she finally regained her composure.

With a conflicted expression, she looked at Ariana and whispered, "So... you're really determined to take revenge on your own sister?"
