Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 720

After leaving the hospital, the car was enveloped in silence—a deathly stillness, the heavy atmosphere pressing into every corner.

After what felt like an eternity, Ariana finally lifted her head slightly and murmured, "Was I... too harsh just now?"

Lambert replied flatly, "No." And it was true. Even if Ariana had softened, he wouldn’t have. Unlike her, Georgia meant little to him—just an insignificant mother-in-law. No, not even that now. Though Lambert wasn’t particularly attached to the children, it all depended on who he was comparing them to.

Next to Ariana, the children naturally took a backseat. But against anyone else? There was no comparison. Protecting his wife and children was every man’s instinct.

The moment Irene dared to lay a hand on his child, Lambert had already decided she wouldn’t get away with it.

Not even if Georgia threatened suicide a hundred times.

Not even if his own mother, Jolene, begged for mercy. He wouldn’t yield an inch.

Ariana leaned against Lambert’s shoulder as if drained of strength, her voice low and hoarse. "I don’t know what’s wrong with me lately. My emotions are all over the place, and I can’t control them." Like earlier, she could coldly declare that no matter how many times Georgia tried to kill herself, she wouldn’t soften toward Irene.

But her tone had been too sharp.

At the very least, she had taken her anger out on her father. Only after leaving the hospital, her mind gradually clearing, did regret begin to seep in.

She shouldn’t have spoken to him like that.

Even if her father had softened and taken care of Georgia again, she was his wife of many years. It was only natural for him to relent. No matter how much it hurt, she shouldn’t have lashed out like that.

Lambert gently stroked Ariana’s hair and murmured, "It’s fine. Your Dad will understand."

Ariana nuzzled against him lightly before whispering, "I’m tired."

A soft chuckle escaped Lambert. "Then sleep," he said quietly. "I’ll wake you when we get there." It was rare to see Ariana acting so clingy, and his eyes softened with an indescribable warmth.

The soothing tone in Lambert's voice, or perhaps the overwhelming weight in her heart, finally lulled Ariana into a deep slumber. She remained asleep even as the car arrived at the Stone Family residence. The driver held his breath, not daring to make a sound, and simply parked in silence when they reached their destination.

With a quiet command for the driver to park the car, Lambert gently lifted Ariana into his arms and carried her inside.

At this hour, the villa was quiet, with only the servants and the butler still awake—the children had long drifted into dreams. When Assistant Hills caught sight of his boss carrying his wife, his eyes lit up briefly before he promptly sealed his lips under Lambert’s warning glare. In a hushed voice, he ventured, "Should I take my leave now, President Stone?"

Lambert responded with a simple, "Mm."

Assistant Hills exhaled in relief and swiftly made his exit.

Turning to the butler standing nearby, Lambert instructed, "If any calls come for Ariana in the next few days, tell them she’s unavailable."

The butler hesitated for a fraction of a second, but knowing better than to question his master’s orders, he dipped his head in acknowledgment. "Understood." With that, he watched as the young master carried the young mistress into their bedroom.

Inside, Ariana slept soundly, undisturbed even as Lambert carried her through the halls. Perhaps it was the familiar scent of him that kept her so deeply asleep. Gazing down at her peaceful face, a flicker of helpless tenderness crossed his eyes. He pressed a feather-light kiss to her forehead—just as he always did—soft and lingering.

Deep down, she still didn’t want a life-or-death feud with her stepdaughter.

Gilbert had been married to Georgia for years—how could he not see through her thoughts? A chill settled in his chest. Witnessing how far she’d go for her biological daughter, then recalling how she’d treated Ariana all these years… Even though he still cared for Georgia, his emotions now were undeniably tangled.

For a moment, she even seemed like a stranger to him.

Had her past gentleness and kindness all been an act? He instinctively pushed the thought away and said coldly, "Forget about Ariana. Irene committed arson—deliberately. Ariana made it clear: no matter how many times you try to kill yourself, she won’t let Irene off."

Georgia’s face paled instantly.

Her voice turned strained. "How could she be so heartless?"

Gilbert’s tone was icy. "Your daughter nearly killed two people in that fire. Wasn’t *she* heartless?"

Georgia met his frigid stare, her anger vanishing as quickly as it had flared. She bit her lip and pleaded, "But Irene has learned her lesson! And Ariana *is* fine. Why can’t she just let it go? Irene is my only daughter—does Ariana really have to drive me to ruin?"

Then, a flash of resolve crossed her eyes. With effort, she grabbed the fruit knife beside the apples on the bedside table and pressed it to her throat, tears welling as she hissed, "Call her here—now! I’ll ask her face-to-face: does she want her mother to live or die?"

Gilbert hadn’t expected this. By the time he registered the threat—the blade glinting at her neck—it was too late to stop her.

His expression darkened completely. Never before had his face looked so grim.
