I checked my reflection in the mirror and tied my hair into a high ponytail before leaving the room and taking the elevator down to the first floor.

moment I reached the lobby, I spotted Henry. “Hi,” I said, stopping in front of him.

“Ready?” he asked, glancing at his wristwatch.

I nodded. “Yes.” I scratched the back of my head. “I’m sorry for the inconvenience,” I said awkwardly. “Thank you so much.”

He looked at me, his gray eyes twinkling. “This was barely an inconyenience. It was, and still is, my pleasure he said, gesturing for me to follow him as he walked out of the hotel. “I’m glad I could help.”

I exhaled, relief flooding through me as gratitude settled deep in my chest.

But every bit of relief I felt vanished the moment I remembered how I’d ended up helpless in the first place.

Thoughts of Alvise made my nerves spike as I followed Henry to his car.

“Is this the right address?” Theo asked as he turned off the engine.

I nodded, though he couldn’t see me. “Y-yes,” I said, my voice trembling. I turned to Henry. “Thank you.”

“You’ve thanked me enough,” he said with a smile.

Then, to my dismay… He got out of the car. I could barely breathe as I watched him walk around to my side before opening the door for me.

Archie and Alvise were now looking in our direction. Archie’s expression was filled with curiosity, but Alvise’s was completely unreadable.

How would this look if I got out of the car?

My body trembled as I finally stepped out and offered Henry a polite smile. I refused to look toward the entrance, my
